The province of Papua (Provinsi Papua) in Indonesia is divided into eight kabupaten (regencies) and one independent kota (city) which in turn are divided administratively into districts, known as distrik under the law of 2001 on "special autonomy for Papua province".
The districts of Papua (as now reduced by the reorganisation of July 2022, which separated twenty regencies previously part of Papua Province into three new provinces of Central Papua, Highland Papua and South Papua) and their respective regencies are as follows (as of December 2019). Administrative villages (desa in rural areas and kelurahan in urban areas) are also listed for each district. [1] [2]

Merauke Regency is a regency in the far south of the Indonesian province of South Papua. It covers an area of 46,791.63 km2, and had a population of 195,716 at the 2010 Census and 230,932 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2021 was 231,696, comprising 121,078 males and 110,618 female inhabitants. The administrative centre is the town of Merauke; this was projected since 2013 to become an independent city (kota) separate from Merauke Regency, but the alteration has been deferred. It is also the provincial capital of South Papua since 2022.
Labuhanbatu Regency is a regency of North Sumatra, Indonesia. Its seat is Rantau Prapat. It had an area of 9,322.5 km2 in 2000. Subsequently, the reduced regency has an area of 2,561.38 km2 and had a census population in 2010 of 415,248, which rose to 493,899 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2021 was 499,982.
Yahukimo Regency is one of the regencies (kabupaten) in the Indonesian province of Highland Papua. It covers an area of 17,152 km2, and had a population of 164,512 at the 2010 Census, but this figure more than doubled to reach 350,880 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2021 was 355,746. The administrative centre is the town of Dekai. The regency was once part of the Jayawijaya Regency, but was split off in 2002.
Nduga Regency is one of the regencies (kabupaten) in the Indonesian province of Highland Papua. Nduga Regency was separated from Jayawijaya Regency on 4 January 2008 in accordance with Law No. 6/2008. It covers an area of 12,941 km2, and had a population of 79,053 at the 2010 Census and 106,533 at the 2020 Census. The administrative centre is at Kenyam.
Mamberamo Raya Regency is one of the regencies (kabupaten) in Papua Province, Indonesia; it was created on 15 March 2007 from parts of Sarmi Regency and Waropen Regency. It covers an area of 23,813.91 km2, and had a population of 18,365 at the 2010 Census which had virtually doubled to 36,483 at the 2020 Census. The official estimate as at mid 2021 was 36,989. The administrative centre is at Burmeso.
Central Mamberamo Regency is one of the regencies (kabupaten) in the Indonesian province of Highland Papua.
