New South Wales Government Railways (NSWGR) was an agency of the Government of New South Wales that administered rail transport in the colony, and then the state, of New South Wales, Australia, between 1855 and 1932.
Henry Dobson was an Australian politician, who served as a member of the Tasmanian House of Assembly and later of the Australian Senate. He was the 17th Premier of Tasmania from 17 August 1892 to 14 April 1894.
The Commonwealth Court of Conciliation and Arbitration was an Australian court that operated from 1904 to 1956 with jurisdiction to hear and arbitrate interstate industrial disputes, and to make awards. It also had the judicial functions of interpreting and enforcing awards and hearing other criminal and civil cases relating to industrial relations law.
Robert Reid was a Scottish-born Australian politician. Born in Leven, Fife, he migrated to Australia, arriving in Hobson's Bay on the Ralph Waller from Liverpool on 7 April 1855, the ship having struck an iceberg near the Island of Desolation. He worked in the retail trade before becoming a businessman.
James Francis Guthrie, was an Australian politician. Born at Rich Avon Station in Victoria, he was educated at Geelong College before becoming a grazier, sheep breeder and woolbroker. In 1919, he was elected to the Australian Senate as a Nationalist Senator for Victoria. In 1931, together with the rest of his party, he joined the United Australia Party. He held the seat until his defeat in 1937, taking effect in 1938.
Robert Storrie Guthrie was a Scottish-born Australian politician. He was educated at Glasgow before becoming a seaman and migrating to Australia in 1887. He was South Australian Secretary and Federal President of the Seamen's Union before entering the South Australian Legislative Council as a Labor member in 1891. In 1903, he left the Council to contest the Australian Senate, in which he was successful. Originally an Australian Labor Party Senator, he left the party in the wake of the 1916 split over conscription, joining the Nationalist Party.
The McGowen ministry was the 34th ministry of the New South Wales Government, and was led by the 18th Premier, James McGowen. This ministry marks the first Labor ministry in the state of New South Wales.

Built in 1863 in the Victorian Italianate style, the building has served as the administration offices for the Municipality of Woollahra since the 1940s and is also known as the Woollahra Council Chambers. The building and its environs are listed on the Municipality of Woollahra local government heritage register.
