Europe

AC Milan
Under manager Fabio Capello, AC Milan went undefeated throughout all of their 34 matches in the league to capture the 1991–92 Serie A, and went unbeaten between 1991 and 1993, an Italian record of 58 league matches in total. [2]

Arsenal
Arsenal won the 2003–04 Premier League title, finishing undefeated under manager Arsène Wenger, and went unbeaten for a total of 49 consecutive matches in the league between 2003 and 2004. [3] [4] [5]

Juventus
Under manager Antonio Conte, Juventus won undefeated the 2011–12 Serie A, becoming the first team to do so in a 38–game league season in Italy. [6] Overall, in that season the team set a national record of 42 official matches unbeaten including the Italian Cup campaign, in which they reached the final. Finally, Juventus went unbeaten during 49 league matches since September 2011 to November 2012. [7] [8]

Celtic
Celtic completed the domestic 2016–17 season unbeaten in 47 league and cup games, winning the Scottish Premiership, Scottish Cup and Scottish League Cup for an unprecedented unbeaten domestic Treble under manager Brendan Rodgers. [9] [10] Their domestic unbeaten run continued into the 2017–18 season and eventually reached 69 games, before they lost 4–0 to Hearts on 17 December 2017. [11]

In association footballing terms, a caretaker manager or interim manager is somebody who takes temporary charge of the management of a football team, usually when the regular manager is dismissed or leaves for a different club. Associazione Calcio Milan returned to its winning ways with the appointment of Fabio Capello as the club's new manager during the 1991–92 season, following the departure of Arrigo Sacchi. Marco van Basten had his last season uninterrupted by injury, netting 25 goals, which was one of the main reasons Milan was able to overhaul Juventus to claim the Serie A title. Milan ran through entire the 34–game league season unbeaten, a rare feat in footballing history. The team's unbeaten run totalled 58 matches between 1991 and 1993, a record in Italian football, encompassing the next season as well. For their achievements, the 1991–92 Milan side received the nickname "Gli invincibili" in the media.

The 2011–12 season was Juventus Football Club's 114th in existence and fifth consecutive season in the top flight of Italian football. In Serie A, the club won their first legitimate league title since 2003; they had initially won two Serie A titles in the meantime but were stripped of both as a result of the Calciopoli scandal.

The 2011–12 season was Udinese Calcio's 17th consecutive and 32nd Serie A season. The club had a successful league season, finishing third in Serie A, but disappointed in the three cup competitions in which it competed. Udinese were eliminated from the Coppa Italia in the round of 16, and also experienced disappointment in the UEFA Champions League, where it was eliminated in the play-off round and thus failed to make its first appearance in the group stage since the 2005–06 season. As a result, Udinese dropped down to the UEFA Europa League, where it successfully advanced from both the group stage and the round of 32, only to be eliminated in the round of 16. Club captain and legend Antonio Di Natale was once again the team's top scorer, with 23 goals in Serie A and 29 in total.
