The No Kings protest is a demonstration being organized for June 14, 2025, [1] [2] on the day of the US Army 250th Anniversary Parade and the 79th birthday of US president Donald Trump, in protest of Trump's policies and actions during his second presidency. [3]
The No Kings protest is planned to protest the US Army 250th Anniversary Parade, which, due to its coinciding with the birthday of Donald Trump, has been interpreted as a political use of the United States military to feed his ego. The protest follows several days of protests against ICE raids around the United States, [a] including in Los Angeles, where Trump deployed both the California National Guard and the United States Marine Corps to protect federal agents and federal property. [5] [6]
The protest is organized by the 50501 movement, and gets its name from the perceived authoritarian and king-like behavior of Donald Trump. Trump has been compared to an absolute monarch due to his defiance of court orders, extralegal deportations, and disregard for civil rights. [5] Democrats Abroad is organizing solidarity protests internationally with the term of “No Tyrants”, [7] as many countries still have monarchs as heads of state. Its message is, “We reject authoritarianism. We reject fear. We reject tyrants.” [7]
Donald Trump publicly opposes the protest and has stated that protestors will be "met with heavy force". [8] [9]
The protest is planned to take place in over 1,800 cities across the United States, [10] including:
