The North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC) is the continental confederation governing body of athletics for national governing bodies and multi-national federations within Northern America, Central America, and the Caribbean. NACAC is one of six area associations of World Athletics (WA), previously named the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). NACAC was founded on December 10, 1988, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. [1]
Amadeo Francis of Puerto Rico was elected as the first president of the association. He was re-elected in 1999 and 2003. [1] In 2007 Neville "Teddy" McCook (Jamaica) was elected as new president [2] [3] and was re-elected in 2011. [4] After McCook died on February 11, 2013, Alain Jean-Pierre from Haiti, treasurer of NACAC and president of the Central American and Caribbean Athletic Confederation (CACAC), acted as interim president. On August 7, 2013, Víctor López from Puerto Rico, president of the Association of Panamerican Athletics (APA), was elected new president for the period 2013–2019. [5] On July 2, 2019, during the NACAC Congress held in Querétaro, Mexico Mike Sands of Bahamas was elected president for the period 2019-2022. [6]

The Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) is the national governing body for the sport of athletics in Jamaica. The association is based in Kingston. As of December 2020, the president of the association is Garth Gayle, JP. He succeeded Dr. Warren Blake who was elected interim president in November 2011 after the sudden death of Blake's predecessor Howard Aris, and re-elected in November 2012.
Atletismo Sudamericano, formerly CONSUDATLE, is the continental confederation governing body of athletics for national governing bodies and multi-national federations within South America. CONSUDATLE is one of six area associations of World Athletics (WA). CONSUDATLE was founded on May 24, 1918, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Therefore, the CONSUDATLE claims to be the oldest athletics area association of the world. The founding members were Argentina, Uruguay, and Andean Chile. Successively, the other countries joined: Brazil in 1922, Ecuador and Peru in 1925, Bolivia in 1930, and Colombia in 1937. Paraguay and Venezuela followed later, and Guyana, Panama, and Suriname joined within the last decades.
The Central American and Caribbean Athletic Confederation (CACAC) is a confederation governing body of athletics for national governing bodies and multi-national federations within Central America and the Caribbean. Membership of the Confederation is open to all national governing bodies for the sport of athletics in any country or territory in the region which is affiliated to World Athletics. Other countries may be granted observer status and may, with permission of the Congress, be allowed to compete in open championships. They will, however, not be entitled to vote at the Congress.

The Association of Panamerican Athletics is a new regional confederation governing body of athletics for national governing bodies and multi-national federations within Northern, Central, and South America, and the Caribbean, replacing the Pan American Athletics Commission.

The British Virgin Islands Athletics Association (BVIAA) is the governing body for the sport of athletics in the British Virgin Islands. Current president is Steve Augustine. He was elected for the first time in 2016.
The Turks & Caicos Islands Amateur Athletic Association (TCIAAA) is the governing body for the sport of athletics in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Current president is Edith Skippings. She was elected in 2011.
The Montserrat Amateur Athletic Association (MAAA) is the governing body for the sport of athletics in Montserrat. Current president is Bruce Farara. It is also the body responsible for Montserrat's representation at the Commonwealth Games.
The Antigua & Barbuda Athletic Association (ABAA) is the governing body for the sport of athletics in Antigua and Barbuda. Current president is Rodney Williams.
The Dominica Amateur Athletic Association (DAAA) is the governing body for the sport of athletics in the Commonwealth of Dominica. Current president is Godwin Dorsette. He was elected in December 2015.
