Geography and geology
Stockinish Island lies on the edge of the Minch, in the mouth of Loch Stockinish, south east of Harris. It is uninhabited and is now used for grazing. The island is 49 hectares (0.19 sq mi) in area, and rises to 44 metres (144 ft) at its highest point. [3] Loch an t-Sàile (loch of the brine), in the centre of the island, is an artificially dammed salt water loch, probably formerly a fish trap, and now used as a lobster pond. [3]
Stockinish's geology is Lewisian gneiss.
Stockinish Island has two kyles (narrows), namely Caolas Beag to the north east and Caolas Mòr to the south west. It provides shelter to Stockinish Loch, which has a pier used by yachts during the summer.
To the south west is the small Eilean Leasait, and Stac nam Faoileag (seagull stack) is just to the south. There are a number of reefs to the south, which are above water at low tide.
Scalpay is an island in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland.

Eilean Bàn is a six-acre (2.4 ha) island between Kyle of Lochalsh and the Isle of Skye, in the historic county of Ross and Cromarty in the Highland local government area. The Skye Bridge uses the island as a stepping-stone as it crosses the mouth of Loch Alsh from the mainland to Skye.
Seaforth Island is an uninhabited island in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. Unlike many other islands of the Outer Hebrides which are mainly surrounded by open sea, Seaforth Island lies in a narrow fjord-like sea loch named Loch Seaforth, 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) from the open waters of The Minch.
Fuday is an uninhabited island of about 232 hectares and is one of ten islands in the Sound of Barra, a Site of Community Importance for conservation in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. It lies just east of Scurrival Point on Barra and west of Eriskay. Fuday is owned by the Scottish Government. Deserted since 1901, its peak population is recorded only as seven.
Eilean Kearstay is an uninhabited island in Loch Roag in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland.
Isle Martin is an uninhabited island in Loch Broom, on the west coast of Scotland. It is the closest of the Summer Isles to Ullapool and has been the site of a monastery, a herring curing station and a flour mill. Now recognised as a bird sanctuary, it is owned and managed by a community trust.
Longa Island is a small uninhabited island at the mouth of Loch Gairloch, on the west coast of Scotland. Longa is nearly one mile in length with an area of 126 hectares and a maximum elevation of 70 metres (230 ft) above sea level.
Soay Mòr is an island in West Loch Tarbert, between the northern and southern parts of Harris. The uninhabited island is separated from the southwest coast of North Harris by the Soay Sound. The adjacent Soay Beag is accessible on foot at low tide.
Oldany Island is an uninhabited island in Assynt, Sutherland, north-west Scotland.
Eilean Mòr is the largest of the Crowlin Islands in the Inner Sound off the Isle of Skye, Scotland.
Na h-Eileanan Iasgaich comprise a small uninhabited archipelago in Loch Boisdale, in the south east of the island of South Uist, in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland. The individual islands are separated from one another at high tide, but connected to one another at low tide,. They are around 50 ha in extent and over 20m at their highest point. Their boundaries are ill-defined.
Lewis and Harris, or Lewis with Harris, is a single Scottish island in the Outer Hebrides, divided by mountains. It is the largest island in Scotland and the third largest in the British Isles, after Great Britain and the island of Ireland, with an area of 841 square miles (2,178 km2), which is approximately 1% of the area of Great Britain. The northern two-thirds is called [the Isle of] Lewis and the southern third [the Isle of] Harris; each is referred to as if it were a separate island and there are many cultural and linguistic differences between the two.
Eilean Horrisdale is an uninhabited island in Loch Gairloch in Wester Ross, Scotland.
Eilean Loain is a small island in Loch Sween and one of the Inner Hebrides of Scotland.
Eilean dà Mhèinn, is a small inhabited island in Loch Crinan and one of the Inner Hebrides of Scotland.
Flodday is an uninhabited island in Loch Maddy, North Uist in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland.
