Swan Transit is an Australian bus company operating Transperth services under contract to the Public Transport Authority. It is a subsidiary of Transit Systems.
On 21 January 1996, Swan Transit commenced operating services in the Midland area with 43 buses. [1] [2] [3]
On 29 September 1996, Swan Transit commenced operating services in the Canning Vale and Southern River areas from depots in Canning Vale and Southern River with 119 Mercedes-Benz and Renault buses. [4] [5] [6] [7]
In January 1998, Swan Transit gained further services in the Armadale South and Kalamunda areas on 5 July 1998. [8] [9] [10]
In September 2002, Swan Transit purchased the Perth operations of Connex WA, resulting services gain in Claremont and Belmont areas. [11] It initially traded as Swan Transit Riverside. Connex (now Transdev) would re-enter the market in September 2004 when it purchased Southern Coast Transit from National Express. [12] [13]
In May 2011, Swan Transit commenced an eight-year contract to operate services in the Marmion contract area. The Marmion contract area includes Karrinyup depot which was operated by Path Transit. However, Swan Transit did not retain the Kalamunda contract, which was taken over by Path Transit in October 2012. [14] [15]
As of April 2019, Swan Transit operates the Canning, Claremont, Marmion, Midland and Southern River area contracts. [16] [17]
In October 2019, Swan Transit was successful in retaining its Marmion and Claremont contracts, as well as gaining the Joondalup contract, taking over the Joondalup operations from Transdev WA on 19 January 2020. In January 2015, Swan Transit commenced operating 10 year contracts to operate services in Bunbury and Busselton under the TransBunbury and TransBusselton brands, taking over from South West Coach Lines. [20] [21]
In July 2017, Swan Transit commenced operating 10 year contracts to operate services in Albany under the TransAlbany brand, taking over from Love's Bus Service. [22] [23] [24]

Outside Perth, Swan Transit operates four depots, Albany, Bunbury, Busselton and Kalgoorlie, for its TransAlbany, TransBunbury, TransBusselton and TransGoldfields operations respectively.

The Joondalup line is a commuter rail service in Western Australia, linking the Perth central business district (CBD) with the metropolitan area's north-western suburbs. It is 40.7 kilometres (25.3 mi) long and serves 13 stations. The service is currently, as of 2022, being extended to Yanchep as part of the Yanchep Rail Extension project, and may be renamed once the extension to Yanchep is completed.
Clarkson railway station is a commuter rail station in Clarkson, a suburb of Perth, Western Australia. It is on the Joondalup line, which is part of the Transperth network. Located in the median of the Mitchell Freeway, the station consists of an island platform connected to the west by a pedestrian footbridge. A six stand bus interchange and two carparks are located near the entrance.
SmartRider is the contactless electronic ticketing system of the Public Transport Authority of Western Australia. The system uses RFID smartcard technology to process public transport fares across public bus, train and ferry services.

Butler railway station is a commuter railway station in Butler, Western Australia, a suburb of Perth. It is the terminus of the Joondalup line, which is on the Transperth commuter rail network. Planning for the Joondalup line in the Butler area began in the late 1990s. The station was built as part of a $240 million extension of the Joondalup line from Clarkson to Butler. Construction began on the station on 16 July 2012, and was completed on 16 May 2014, opening on 21 September 2014. The Joondalup line is currently being extended past Butler station to Yanchep railway station. As of November 2021, the extension is planned to open at the end of 2023.
