West Indies at the Men's T20 World Cup

The West Indies cricket team is one of the full members of the International Cricket Council (ICC). They are the joint most successful team along with England and India, having won two titles in 2012 and 2016. [1] [2] The team has appeared in every edition of the tournament, and also have been hosts of the 2010 and 2024 editions. [3] They had also reached the semifinals of the tournament twice in 2009 and 2014. In nine editions, the team has a win-loss record of 24-20 wins in 46 matches.

On making his One-Day International (ODI) debut against Bangladesh in 2004, Sammy became the first person from the island of St Lucia to play international cricket. Three years later he made his Test debut against England, taking 7/66 which were the best bowling figures for a West Indian in his first Test since Alf Valentine in 1950. Under his captaincy West Indies won the 2012 and 2016 ICC WorldTwenty20. He is the only captain to win the T20 World Cup twice. He was also a member of the West Indies team that won the 2004 ICC Champions Trophy.

Daren Ganga is a former Trinidadian cricketer. He was a right-handed top order batsman and part-time right-arm off spinner. He was named the 2006 West Indies Players' Association 'Test player of the year', Ganga captained the Windies' youth, A and senior teams together with Trinidad and Tobago. Ganga is also the most successful captain ever, with four titles, in West Indian List A tournaments.

Denesh Ramdin is a former Trinidadian cricketer who played as a right-handed wicketkeeper-batsman. Ramdin formerly captained the West Indies, Guyana Amazon Warriors, Trinidad and Tobago and the Combined Campuses and Colleges. He was a member of the West Indies team that won both the 2012 T20 World Cup and the 2016 T20 World Cup.

Andre Fletcher is a Grenadian cricketer who plays internationally for the West Indies. He is a right-handed batsman and often keeps wicket. The West Indian cricket team toured England from 12 May to 7 July 2007 as part of the 2007 English cricket season. Darren Michael Bravo is a Trinidadian cricketer who plays international cricket for the West Indies. A left-handed batsman, his batting style has drawn comparisons with Brian Lara. Bravo is the younger half brother of fellow West Indies cricketer Dwayne Bravo and his mother is the first cousin of former cricketer Brian Lara. Bravo was a member of the West Indies team that won the 2012 T20 World Cup.

The West Indies cricket team toured New Zealand from 3 December 2013 to 15 January 2014, playing 3 Tests, 5 One Day Internationals and 2 Twenty20 Internationals against New Zealand. New Zealand won the three match test series 2-0 and the T20Is 2–0. The ODI series was drawn 2-2.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2012 World Twenty20 final</span> International cricket competition

The 2012 ICC World Twenty20 Final was played between Sri Lanka and West Indies at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on 7 October 2012. This was the 4th ICC World Twenty20. West Indies won the match by 36 runs, its first World Twenty20 victory. This was West Indies's first major trophy since the 2004 ICC Champions Trophy. West Indies became the 4th team to win this title after India, Pakistan and England. This was the first time where a host team (SL) qualified for the final. In the stadium, the match was watched by 38,000 spectators.

Roston Lamar Chase is a Barbadian cricketer who plays for the West Indies and Barbados. An all-rounder, he is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm off spin bowler. In July 2017, he was named Cricketer of the Year and Test Cricketer of the Year by the West Indies Players' Association.

The 2016 ICC World Twenty20 Final was played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on 3 April 2016 to determine the winners of the 2016 ICC World Twenty20 between England and the West Indies. The West Indies won the match by 4 wickets, thus becoming the first team to win the ICC World Twenty20 twice. The match recorded the highest attendance ever for an ICC World T20 Finals.

The CWI/WIPA Awards are a set of annual cricket awards given jointly by the Cricket West Indies (CWI) and the West Indies Players' Association (WIPA). The awards recognise and honour the best West Indian international and domestic cricketers of the past season. The awards were known as WIPA Awards until 2013 when the CWI, then known as West Indies Cricket Board (WICB), and WIPA decided to jointly host the awards function.

The England cricket team toured the West Indies between January and March 2019 to play three Tests, five One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The series included England's first Test match in Saint Lucia, when they played at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground. It was also England's first tour to the West Indies to play all three formats of international cricket since they visited in 2009. The ODI fixtures were part of both teams' preparation for the 2019 Cricket World Cup.

The South Africa cricket team toured the West Indies in June and July 2021 to play two Test matches and five Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The Test series formed part of the inaugural 2019–2021 ICC World Test Championship. The fixtures for the tour were confirmed by Cricket West Indies in May 2021.

The Australia cricket team toured the West Indies in June and July 2021 to play three One Day International (ODI) and five Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The ODI matches formed part of the inaugural 2020–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. The fixtures for the tour were confirmed by Cricket West Indies (CWI) in May 2021. The Australian cricket team arrived in the West Indies on 28 May 2021, after the majority players had been vaccinated for COVID-19.
