Johan Severin Svendsen was a Norwegian composer, conductor and violinist. Born in Christiania, Norway, he lived most his life in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Arne Nordheim was a Norwegian composer. Nordheim received numerous awards for his compositions, and from 1982 lived in the Norwegian government's honorary residence, Grotten, next to the Royal Palace in Oslo. He was elected an honorary member of the International Society for Contemporary Music in 1997. On 18 August 2006, Arne Nordheim received a doctor honoris causa degree at the Norwegian Academy of Music. He died at the age of 78 and was given a state funeral.

The 1983 Norwegian Football Cup was the 79th edition of the Norwegian annual knockout football tournament. The Cup was won by Fredrikstad after beating Viking in the cup final. It took a replay to decide the winner. This was Fredrikstad's tenth Norwegian Cup title. They had to wait 22 years for their eleventh title, in 2006.

Conrad Vogt-Svendsen was a Norwegian priest. He was assistant seamen's priest in Hamburg during Second World War, helped with the White Buses operation in 1945, and was later main priest for the deaf in Norway.

The Gammleng Award is a Norwegian culture award created by The Fund for Performing Artists in 1982, 25 years after the fund was established in 1957. The award's official name is the Rolf Gammleng award to performing artists. It's awarded to artists who have in a meritorious way contributed on recordings, stage performances, or concerts.
