Lincoln, Nebraska held an election for mayor on May 7, 2019, being preceded by an April 9 general primary. It saw the election of Leirion Gaylor Baird.
Incumbent Democratic mayor Chris Beutler was prevented from running by a term-limits amendment to the city charter that was approved by voters on November 6, 2018. In the summer of 2018, several prominent Republican politicians successfully led a petition drive for an amendment to the city charter that would limit the Lincoln mayor to serving three consecutive terms. The amendment would apply retroactively, thereby prohibiting Beutler from running for a fourth term in the 2019 municipal election. [2]

Chris Beutler is an American politician and former Mayor of Lincoln, Nebraska, having served from 2007 to 2019. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously served in the Nebraska Legislature from 1979 to 1986 and from 1991 to 2006.
Michael Bruce Quigley is an American politician serving as the U.S. representative for Illinois's 5th congressional district since the April 7, 2009 special election. The district includes most of Chicago's North Side and several of its western suburbs. He is a member of the Democratic Party. Quigley is a former member of the Cook County Board of Commissioners, where he represented Chicago's northside neighborhoods of Lakeview, Uptown, and Rogers Park. He previously taught environmental policy and Chicago politics as an adjunct professor at Loyola University Chicago.

Scott Martin is an American politician from Pennsylvania who has been a Republican member of the Pennsylvania State Senate for the 13th district since January 3, 2017. He was previously a two-term Lancaster county commissioner and chairman of the Pennsylvania Republican County Commissioners Caucus. Martin is married to Amber Martin and they have four children. After a six-month exploratory committee, on December 11, 2021, Martin announced his intention to seek the office of governor of Pennsylvania. He suspended his gubernatorial bid on February 11, 2022, because of complications from a broken leg and other injuries suffered in an accident, resulting in surgery.
