The 2024 Nobel Peace Prize is an international peace prize established according to Alfred Nobel's will [1] that will be announced in 11 October 2024 by the Norwegian Nobel Committee in Oslo, Norway, and awarded on 10 December 2024.

Candidates

Though nominations are strictly kept a secret, several Norwegian parliamentarians and other academics are privileged to publicly announce their preferred candidates simply to raise publicity both for the nominee and the nominator.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Student Peace Prize</span> Award

The Student Peace Prize is awarded biennially to a student or a student organization that has made a significant contribution to creating peace and promoting human rights. The Student Peace Prize (SPP) was established in 1999 – as an initiative by volunteers from the International Student Festival in Trondheim (ISFiT). The prize is awarded on behalf of all Norwegian students, and is administrated by the Student Peace Prize Secretariat in Trondheim, which appoints a national nominations committee with representatives from universities and colleges in Norway, as well as an independent Peace Prize Committee that awards the prize. The award ceremony takes place during the International Student Festival in Trondheim (ISFiT).

The 2022 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded jointly to one individual and two organisations which advocate human rights and civil liberty. The recipients were the Belarusian activist Ales Bialiatski, the Russian human rights organisation Memorial and the Ukrainian human rights organisation Center for Civil Liberties. The citation given by the Norwegian Nobel Committee were the following:

The Peace Prize laureates represent civil society in their home countries. They have for many years promoted the right to criticise power and protect the fundamental rights of citizens. They have made an outstanding effort to document war crimes, human right abuses and the abuse of power. Together they demonstrate the significance of civil society for peace and democracy.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2023 Nobel Peace Prize</span> Award

The 2023 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to the Iranian activist Narges Mohammadi "for her fight against the oppression of women in Iran and her fight to promote human rights and freedom for all." She is the second Nobel laureate from Iran after Shirin Ebadi won in 2003. As of the announcement of the prize, Mohammadi is still in prison in Iran.
