The 2024 Oklahoma House of Representative election will take place on November 5, 2024. The primary elections for the Republican, Democratic, and Libertarian parties' nominations will take place on June 18, 2024. All candidates must file between the days of April 3–5, 2024. [1] Oklahoma voters will elect state representatives to serve two-year terms in all 101 House districts.

Republicans went into the 2024 election with a supermajority of seats in the state house over Democrats: 81 (R) to 20 (D).

Partisan Background

In the 2020 Presidential Election, Republican Donald Trump won 82 Oklahoma House of Representatives districts, and Democrat Joe Biden won 19. The suburban Tulsa-based district 79, which voted for Trump by 1.4%, was the only district that Trump won in 2020 which was represented by a Democrat going into the 2024 Oklahoma House of Representatives Election.

    Brian John Bingman is an American politician from the U.S. state of Oklahoma who has served in elected and appointed offices since the 1990s. A member of the Republican Party, he was first elected to the Sapulpa city commission in 1992, before being elected mayor by his fellow commissioners in 1994. He would serve in both of these offices until 2004, when he was elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives to represent the 30th district. After one term in the house, Bingman ran for the 12th district of the Oklahoma Senate in 2006 and would hold the seat until term limited in 2016.     Kevin Ray Hern is an American businessman and politician from Oklahoma. A Republican, he is a member of the United States House of Representatives for Oklahoma's 1st congressional district. Born in Missouri and raised in Pope County, Arkansas, Hern graduated from Arkansas Tech University in 1986 and briefly attended the Georgia Institute of Technology before returning to Arkansas to work for McDonald's the following year. In 1997 he bought his first McDonald's franchise and in 1999 he earned his MBA degree from the University of Arkansas, Little Rock. After moving to Oklahoma in 1999, Hern expanded his McDonald's franchises, eventually owning 18 franchises in the Tulsa metropolitan area. In 2018, he ran his first campaign for office and was elected to the United States House of Representatives.
