Barrow Street Theatre is the name of both a 199-seat Off-Broadway theatre located in New York City's historic Greenwich House at 27 Barrow Street and a production company of the same name. [1] From 2003 to 2018, the venue was leased to Barrow Street Theatre, a commercial theater company operated by producers Scott Morfee and Tom Wirtshafter. [1] The theater space has been operated by Ars Nova since September 1, 2018 under the names Ars Nova at Greenwich House and the Greenwich Street Theatre. [2] The theater space, which opened in 1917, has also been home to SoHo Rep. [3] [4]

While under the jurisdiction of the theatre company, the theater was home to a number of Off-Broadway hits, including Bug by Tracy Letts, Buyer and Cellar , Sweeney Todd and Orson's Shadow by Austin Pendleton. [1] [5] [6]

Following their departure from the Greenwich House theatre, Barrow rebranded as Barrow Street Productions and produced a number of Off Broadway shows including Nassim Soleimanpour's NASSIM at New York City Center. [7] [8]

Peter Kellogg is a musical theater book writer and lyricist. Buyer & Cellar is a 2013 American one-man play by Jonathan Tolins. The play premiered at the Rattlestick Playwrights Theater in New York City on April 2, 2013. The production starred Michael Urie and was directed by Stephen Brackett. The same production then opened off-Broadway at the Barrow Street Theatre on June 24, 2013, closing in 2014. NASSIM is a seventy five minute play by Nassim Soleimanpour that features new actors with no rehearsals performing each day, a format similar to Soleimanpour's prior play, White Rabbit Red Rabbit. When the actor opens the sealed envelope, it reveals the first page of the script, which eventually reunites them with the playwright, the one constant in each performance. Guest actor and playwright must navigate the boundaries, including the Persian language, throughout the performance's duration.

Emojiland is a pop musical written by Keith Harrison Dworkin and Laura Schein. It premiered off-Broadway on January 19, 2020, at the Duke on 42nd Street. It centers around a group of emojis living in the world of a smartphone on the eve of a software update.
