John Hanley Cannady was an American football linebacker in the National Football League for the New York Giants. He played college football at Indiana University and was drafted in the third round of the 1947 NFL Draft.The first professional football player from Charleston SC, known as "Big John" he was the New York Giants second round draft pick in 1947 and played from 1947 to 1954. A teammate of Frank Gifford from 1952 to 1954, Big John was a member of the New York Giants’ 1950 team that finished with a 10-2 record and tied for first place in the American Conference. He played in the league’s Pro Bowl game in 1950 and 1952. He played the first NFL Pro Bowl. Big John was a member of the National Football League Players Association, and Indiana University Members Association. He was named to the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame in 1991, and to the Post and Courier’s list of South Carolina’s 100 greatest athletes of the 20th century.

The Cannady–Brogden Farm is a historic home and farm located near Creedmoor, Wake County, North Carolina. Built in 1904, the house is an example of a Queen Anne triple-A-roofed I-shaped building. In addition to the house, other structures on the farm include: corn crib, woodshed, washhouse, covered well, chicken coop, smokehouse, stackhouse, packhouse, machinery shed, mule barn, cow shed, and tobacco barn.

Beatrice Morrow Cannady was a renowned civil rights advocate in early 20th-century Oregon, United States. She was editor of the Advocate, the state's largest African-American newspaper. She was also co-founder and vice president of the Portland, Oregon chapter of the NAACP.

Claude Neal was a 23-year-old African-American farmhand who was arrested in Jackson County, Florida on October 19, 1934, for allegedly raping and killing Lola Cannady, a 19-year-old white woman missing since the preceding night. Circumstantial evidence was collected against him, but nothing directly linked him to the crime. When the news got out about his arrest, white lynch mobs began to form. In order to keep Neal safe, County Sheriff Flake Chambliss moved him between multiple jails, including the county jail at Brewton, Alabama, 100 miles (160 km) away. But a lynch mob of about 100 white men from Jackson County heard where he was, and brought him back to Jackson County.

Trendione, also known as estra-4,9,11-triene-3,17-dione, is an androgen prohormone as well as metabolite of the anabolic steroid trenbolone. Trendione is to trenbolone as androstenedione is to testosterone. The compound is inactive itself, showing more than 100-fold lower affinity for the androgen and progesterone receptors than trenbolone.
