Cooch Behar Sadar subdivision is a subdivision of the Cooch Behar district in the state of West Bengal, India. It consists of Cooch Behar municipality and two community development blocs: Cooch Behar–I and Cooch Behar–II. The two blocks contain 28 gram panchayats and three census towns. The subdivision has its headquarters at Cooch Behar.
Cooch Behar district is a district of the state of West Bengal, India, as well as the district's namesake town. During the British Raj, the town of Cooch Behar was the seat of a princely state of Koch Bihar, ruled by the Koch dynasty.

Suktabari is a Gram panchayat in the Cooch Behar I of Cooch Behar Sadar subdivision of Cooch Behar district in West Bengal state, India. It is a famous place in North Bengal for Suktabari Markaz and its Muslim community.
As per 2011 Census of India Cooch Behar I CD Block had a total population of 326,558, of which 293,267 were rural and 33,291 were urban. There were 168,185 males and 158,373 females. Scheduled Castes numbered 115,000 and Scheduled Tribes numbered 378. [4]
The 15th Indian Census was conducted in two phases, house listing and population enumeration. House listing phase began on 1 April 2010 and involved collection of information about all buildings. Information for National Population Register was also collected in the first phase, which will be used to issue a 12-digit unique identification number to all registered Indian residents by Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). The second population enumeration phase was conducted between 9 and 28 February 2011. Census has been conducted in India since 1872 and 2011 marks the first time biometric information was collected. According to the provisional reports released on 31 March 2011, the Indian population increased to 1.21 billion with a decadal growth of 17.70%. Adult literacy rate increased to 74.04% with a decadal growth of 9.21%. The motto of the census was 'Our Census, Our future'.
The Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs) are officially designated groups of historically disadvantaged people in India. The terms are recognised in the Constitution of India and the groups are designated in one or other of the categories.
