D.A.V. P.G. College also known as DAV Degree College [2] is a Government-Aided degree college affiliated to the University of Lucknow [3] [4] [5] and recognised by University Grants Commission. It was established in 1948 by Pandit Ras Bihari Tiwari and Shri Bhrigu Dutt Tiwari. It is based on the ideals of Dayananda Saraswati and Arya Samaj. The college has its origin in a school started in the premises of Arya Samaj temple in Ganeshganj locality in 1918. In 1926, the school shifted to the present premises, and graduate classes were started in 1956. [6] [7]
The main campus is situated in Arya Nagar, near Naka Hindola, 1 km from Charbagh Railway Station. It offers graduate courses in Arts, Law and Science stream. It has two campuses, one for Law and another for Arts And Science. In 2012, India Today placed the college amongst top 5 "Best Science Colleges in Lucknow". [8]
The college has an annual fest, Abhivyakyti, [9] and reports contributions in its magazine, Deepshikha.
Banaras Hindu University (BHU) is a collegiate, central, and research university located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India, and founded in 1916. The university incorporated the Central Hindu College, founded by Indian Home Rule-leaguer and Theosophist, Annie Besant in 1898. After Besant and her associates were marginalised, the university was established by Madan Mohan Malaviya with the support of the maharaja of Darbhanga Rameshwar Singh, the maharaja of Benares Prabhu Narayan Singh, and the lawyer Sunder Lal. With over 30,000 students, and 18,000 residing on campus, BHU is the largest residential university in Asia. The university is one of the eight public institutions declared as an Institute of Eminence by the Government of India. It is also one of the 12 institutions from India in BRICS Universities League, a consortium of leading research universities from BRICS countries.
Dayanand Anglo Vaidik Mahavidyalaya is a college in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India, established in 1919 by Lala Diwan Chand, is the second oldest college in the city. The college is situated in Civil Lines, opposite the Green Park Stadium. It is affiliated with Chhatrapati Sahu Ji Maharaj University, formerly with the University of Agra. The college is accredited by the NAAC. Manas Pandey is present principal of this college. It is managed by the Dayanand Anglo-Vedic College Trust and Management Society.
Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), before 2015 known as the Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU), is a public collegiate university in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. It was established as the Uttar Pradesh Technical University through the Government of Uttar Pradesh on 8 May 2000. To reduce workload and to ensure proper management, the university was bifurcated into separate universities, Gautam Buddh Technical University (GBTU) and Mahamaya Technical University (MTU), with effect from 1 May 2010. In 2013, as a new government came into power, the university was formed again by combining the two on 5 January 2013.
Dhirendra Verma was an Indian poet and writer. He used to write in Hindi and Brij Bhasha. Verma holds the same prominence for introducing scientific methods to research in Hindi language and literature as does Ramchandra Shukla. On the basis of his research in Indian languages, he published the first scientific history of Indian languages in 1933. He wrote his doctoral thesis on Brij Bhasha in French which was later translated into Hindi.

Mahatama Hansraj was an Indian educationist and a follower of Arya Samaj movement founder, Swami Dayanand. He founded, with Gurudatta Vidhyarthi, the Dayanand Anglo-Vedic Schools System (D.A.V.) in Lahore on 1 June 1886, where the first D.A.V. school was set up in memory of Dayanand who had died three years earlier.
