Danggali Conservation Park is a protected area located about 65 kilometres (40 miles) north of Renmark in South Australia. The conservation park was proclaimed under the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1972 in 1976. In 2009, a portion of the conservation park was excised to create the Danggali Wilderness Protection Area. The conservation park is classified as an IUCN Category Ia protected area. [4] [1] [5]
Protected areas of South Australia consists of protected areas located within South Australia and its immediate onshore waters and which are managed by South Australian Government agencies. As of March 2018, South Australia contains 359 separate protected areas declared under the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1972, the Crown Land Management Act 2009 and the Wilderness Protection Act 1992 which have a total land area of 211,387.48 km2 (81,617.16 sq mi) or 21.5% of the state's area.
Flinders Chase National Park is a protected area in the Australian state of South Australia located at the west end of Kangaroo Island about 177 kilometres west-south west of the state capital of Adelaide and 110 kilometres west of the municipal seat of Kingscote. It is a sanctuary for endangered species and home to a few geological phenomena. It was the second national park to be declared in South Australia.
Murray River National Park is a protected area in South Australia located between 180 kilometres (110 mi) and 240 km (150 mi) north east of the Adelaide city centre. The national park was proclaimed in 1991 "to conserve a significant proportion of South Australia’s floodplain environments which are not represented widely in other reserve systems." The national park consists of three sections adjoining the Murray River and extending from near Loxton in the south west to near Renmark in the north-east. The first which is known as the ‘Katarapko’ section is located on the north side of the river between Loxton in the south and Berri in the north. The second section which is known as the ‘Lyrup Flats’ section is located on the north side of the river midway between Berri and Loxton. The third section is known as the ‘Bulyong’ section is located on the west side of the river upstream from Renmark. The national park is classified as an IUCN Category VI protected area.
Nullarbor National Park is a protected area in the Australian state of South Australia located in the locality of Nullarbor about 887 kilometres (551 mi) west of the state capital of Adelaide and about 400 kilometres (250 mi) west of Ceduna.

The Yellabinna Regional Reserve is a protected area in the Australian state of South Australia located about 30 kilometres north of Ceduna. To the west it borders Nullarbor Regional Reserve, to the south Yumbarra Conservation Park and Pureba Conservation Park. In the northwestern Section the 5,030 km2 Yellabinna Wilderness Protection Area (YWPA) is almost entirely surrounded by the Regional Reserve. The northern border in the western half of the reserve is formed by the Trans-Australian Railway.

The wilderness protection area was proclaimed under the Wilderness Protection Act 1992 on 28 May 2009 on land excised from the Danggali Conservation Park. Cooltong Conservation Park is a protected area located in South Australia about 6 kilometres west of the town of Renmark in the Riverland of South Australia. The conservation park was proclaimed under the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1972 in 1993 to "preserve quality mallee vegetation and habitat for the mallee bird species that frequent the area, in particular the Malleefowl." As of 2011, the conservation park was described as being "dominated by mallee vegetation, with undulating dunes and shales" and that it is "popular among birdwatchers eager to catch a glimpse of elusive mallee birds." Services provided within the conservation park as of 2011 include bushwalking, picnic grounds and vehicle tracks only accessible by 4WD vehicles. The conservation park is classified as an IUCN Category VI protected area.
Taylorville Station is a protected area located in the east of the Australian state of South Australia about 35 kilometres north west of the town of Renmark and about 250 kilometres east of the state capital of Adelaide. It is a protected area which is under the control of the Australian government rather than the Government of South Australia and which is managed by a private organisation under contract. Taylorville Station is part of an area whose habitat has been listed as "critical" for the survival of the bird species, black-eared miner. It is also part of a larger reserve system known as the Riverland Biosphere Reserve.
