Elenthikara is a small village in Puthenvelikara Panchayath, Paravur Taluk, Ernakulam district of Kerala. The Chalakudy River merges with the Periyar River at Elenthikara. The village is situated in the road connecting Paravur with Mala, Thrissur. The nearest town is North Paravur.Early inhabitants of this place worshipped "Ilaya Nandhi" or "Ilaya Bhagavathy".So this place was known as Elenthikara.

Paravur Taluk is a taluk of Ernakulam District in the Indian State of Kerala. North Paravur is the capital of the taluk. Paravur Taluk lies in the north western part of Ernakulam district bordering Thrissur district. The surrounding taluks are Kochi to the west consisting of Vypin Island, Kodungallur to the north, Chalakudy to the north consisting of Mala, Aluva to the east consisting of Angamaly, Nedumbassery and Aluva, Kanayanur to the south consisting of Cochin City. Paravur is a part of Kochi urban agglomeration area. The western parts of taluk are coastal areas with cultivations like prawn and pokkali rice. The eastern parts are fertile lands. The heavy industries of Kochi is located in Udyogmandal area of the taluk.

Chalakudy River or Chalakudy Puzha is the fifth longest river in Kerala, India. The river flows through Palakkad district, Thrissur District and Ernakulam District of Kerala. The total drainage area of the river is 1704 km². out of this 1404 km² lies in Kerala and the rest 300 km² in Tamil Nadu. The length of the river is 145.5 km. Though Chalakudy river in strict geological sense is a tributary of the Periyar river, for all practical purposes it is treated as a separate river by Government and other agencies. The River has gained its name, since it flows along the banks of the Chalakudy Town, the major settlement along the course of the river.

Elenthikara High School

Elenthikara High School, near North Paravur, has a history. When Sree Narayana Guru visited this place he exhorted the people on the need for education and educational institutions. Inspired by his words Dr. C. S. Sankaran, a homeopath, built a school on his ancestral property in 1948. He later upgraded it into a high school in 1952. When there was a need for a proper playground the area around was cleared. Today this school and its playground houses precious historical evidence of a lost culture. Elenthikara was a place where Tippu Sultan visited on war time and hoisted a flag in a hill. That place is now known as "Kodi Kuthiya Kunnu"
