Unipol Forum (formerly the FilaForum, DatchForum and Mediolanum Forum; known as the Forum di Milano in events where commercial naming rights are prohibited) is an indoor sports arena that is located in Assago, a small town 3 km outside Milan, Italy. [1] The arena has a seating capacity of 12,800 [2] and is primarily used for basketball, ice hockey, tennis and live concerts.
The venue is the home ground of the EuroLeague and Italian Serie A professional basketball team AX Armani Exchange Milan. In May 2024, the current sponsor, Unipol, took over naming rights in a deal that will run to 2027. [3]
The Forum of Assago was built by Giuseppe Cabassi and his son Luca in 1990. It was named in several different way due to different sponsorships during the years: from 1993 to 2006 it was named FilaForum, from 2006 to 2008 DatchForum and then, from 2009 to 2023, MediolanumForum.
The venue is located in the big Milanofiori complex and it covers an area of 40,000 sqm. The layout of the rooms is organized on 4 superimposed levels below the stands of the central arena. There are also private panoramic rooms (called "SkyBox") on the top floor. The Forum received the 1994 European Prize for Architecture for sports venues awarded by the Italian National Olympic Committee and the Council of Europe. It is also one of two facilities in Italy, along with Palazzo dello Sport in Rome, to be part of the European Arenas Association network. [4]
For the 2014 Euroleague Final Four the venue has been renovated and the capacity increased from 11,500 to 12,700. It was again renovated in 2017, with new internal signs and new colors in the corridors of the rings, also including the reconstruction of the floor.
The arena has hosted the 1994 Men's World Ice Hockey Championships, the 2003 IIHF Continental Cup Superfinal of ice hockey (together with Lugano's Pista La Resega), WWE Raw and WWE SmackDown in 2007, and the 2009 World Amateur Boxing Championships.
Since 2011, the Forum has also been home to La Grande Sfida, an annual tennis exhibition event played every Christmas. The arena also hosted the EuroLeague Final Four in 2014. [18]
The forum was the venue for 2018 World Figure Skating Championships. [19]
Some matches of the 2018 FIVB Volleyball World Championship were held at the venue. The venue also hosted some group phase matches of the FIBA EuroBasket 2022 which Italy hosted alongside Czech Republic in Prague, Georgia in Tbilisi and Germany in Berlin and Cologne.
In July 2024 the 19th World Kendo Championship was held at the forum. [20]
It will be the figure skating and short track venue during the 2026 Winter Olympics.

The tag line stuck, and the nickname is still used by many fans today.

The Milan Indoor, also known under various sponsored names, was a men's professional tennis tournament founded in 1973 as the ATP Milano Indoors an indoor carpet court event, that was the successor event the Milano International Indoors an indoor wood court tournament. In 1978 the event was revived as the Milan Indoor and held until 2005 when it was branded as the International of Lombardy or Internazionali di Lombardia. It took placed in Milan, Italy with the exception of three years (1998–2000) when it was held in London, United Kingdom. The event was part of the Grand Prix circuit (1981–89) and ATP Tour (1990–2005) and was played on indoor carpet courts, except for the 2000 edition which was played on an indoor hard court. The most successful singles players were John McEnroe and Boris Becker who both won four titles. Stefan Edberg and Roger Federer won the first singles title of their career at the event. A single female edition of the event was held in 1991, won by Monica Seles. Due to a lack of sponsorship the tournament was replaced on the 2006 ATP Tour by the Zagreb Indoors.

The 1993 Muratti Time Indoor, known as such for sponsorship reasons, was a men's tennis tournament played on indoor carpet courts at the Assago Forum in Milan, Italy that was part of the ATP Championship Series of the 1993 ATP Tour. It was the 16th edition of the tournament and was held from 8 February until 14 February 1993. Second-seeded Boris Becker won the singles title, his third at the event after 1987 and 1989.
PalaItalia Santa Giulia is an under-construction Milan venue for the 2026 Winter Olympics as well as the 2026 Winter Paralympics. It will accommodate 16,000 spectators. After 2026 it will be used as the main venue for sporting and entertainment at the city, replacing the Mediolanum Forum.
The 2026 Winter Olympics and 2026 Winter Paralympics, hosted by the cities of Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, will make use of 25 event venues across four clusters in northern Italy. These consist of nineteen existing venues, two newly-built venues, and four temporary venues. Over 90% of the venues consist of ones that already exist or temporary ones. The Games are reportedly set to be the most geographically widespread in Olympic history; the use of existing venues means the events will be held in an area spanning more than 22,000 square kilometres (8,500 sq mi).
