Five affiliate members play women's lacrosse in the AAC: Cincinnati, Florida, James Madison, Old Dominion, and Vanderbilt. [15] South Florida has announced plans for a women's lacrosse team to begin play in the 2024 season (later pushed back to 2025). [16] None of the six schools that joined the conference in 2023–24 sponsored women's lacrosse, though Charlotte has announced that it will have a team beginning in 2025. Cincinnati remained an affiliate member of The American for women's lacrosse after otherwise joining the Big 12, which at the time did not sponsor the sport. [17] [18] Cincinnati will leave after the 2024 season when the Big 12 adds women's lacrosse as a sponsored sport.

Men's swimming and diving

The American dropped men's swimming & diving after the 2022–23 season. Of the conference's 14 members in 2023–24, only Florida Atlantic and departing member SMU offer men's swimming and diving. [26] East Carolina competed in the sport until 2020 but eliminated the program in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. [27] Both FAU and SMU joined the ASUN Conference for that conference's inaugural swimming & diving season in 2023–24, with SMU moving from there to the ACC in 2024–25.
