Engineering is the discipline, art, skill and profession in which a knowledge of the mathematical and natural sciences gained by study, experience, and practice is applied with judgment to develop ways to utilise, economically, the materials and forces of nature for the benefits of the human society. One who practices engineering is called an engineer, the word "Engineer" is generally stereotyped with a person skilled in the principles and practice of any branch of engineering. [1]

In Delhi there are several Engineering Institutions which provide 4 or 5 year B.tech/B.E. degree courses.

B. M. Institute of Engineering & Technology is an engineering college located at Raipur-Fazilpur Road, Sonepat, Haryana, Delhi NCR. The institute was established in 1999. It is one of the oldest in the region. It is affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University,) Delhi and is approved by the AICTE. It offers degrees including B.Tech., M.B.A. and B.B.A. The institute has separate hostels for boys and girls on campus, and provides bus facility from all major routes of Delhi. It also has an alumni network of around 7000 students working round the globe in major engineering and management organizations. The institute is a Jain Minority Institute.

The National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA), is conducted by National Institute of Advanced Studies in Architecture (NIASA), which is a body of Council of Architecture, New Delhi in India. The National Aptitude Test in Architecture is a national level examination for admission to undergraduate courses in architecture. The test measures the aptitude of applicants for a specific field of study in areas like drawing and observation skills, sense of proportion, aesthetic sensitivity and critical thinking, qualities that have been acquired over a long period of time and that are related to architecture.

Pritam Babu Sharma is an Indian academic and Vice Chancellor of Amity University, Gurgaon and ex Vice Chancellor of Delhi Technological University. Currently he is heading the Association of Indian Universities as the President. Sharma has a career spanning 44 years of experience in teaching and research, which includes 12 years at IIT Delhi, where he was a Professor of mechanical engineering before taking over as Principal of Delhi College of Engineering in 1990. He led Delhi College of Engineering till 2009, and was then appointed the founder Vice Chancellor of Delhi Technological University (DTU), when Delhi College of Engineering was upgraded to Delhi Technological University through Delhi Act 6 of 2009. He is also the founding Vice Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi Technical University, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
