The Hungarian Defence Forces is the national defence force of Hungary. Since 2007, the Hungarian Armed Forces has been under a unified command structure. The Ministry of Defence maintains political and civil control over the army. A subordinate Joint Forces Command coordinates and commands the HDF corps. In 2020, the armed forces had 22,700 personnel on active duty. In 2019, military spending was $1.904 billion, about 1.22% of the country's GDP, well below the NATO target of 2%. In 2016, the government adopted a resolution in which it pledged to increase defence spending to 2.0% of GDP and the number of active personnel to 37,650 by 2026.

Our Homeland Movement is a Hungarian far-right political party. It was founded by Ásotthalom mayor and former Jobbik Vice-President, László Toroczkai, along with other Jobbik dissidents who left the organization after the party's leadership moved away from its radical beginnings. The party ran in the 2019 European Parliament elections for the first time, but it did not win a seat. However, in the 2022 parliamentary election, it became the third largest party in the country with a result of nearly 6%, far surpassing public opinion research. In the 2024 European Parliament elections, the party continued to increase its support, reaching nearly 7%.
Origo is a major Hungarian-language news website founded in 1998 by telecommunications company MATÁV. In 2018, Origo was the third most visited Hungarian website. Since 2015, Origo has been regularly criticised for several reasons, such as their proclivity for publishing softcore pornography openly and on the front page, its uncritical support of the Fidesz political party and regularly spreading fake news. Some critics describe the website as "state-run propaganda".
The 2019–20 Nemzeti Bajnokság I was the 69th season of the Nemzeti Bajnokság I, Hungarian premier Handball league. On 9 April 2020 the Hungarian Handball Federation decided to cancel the season with immediate effect due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the meaning of the decision there will be no national champion named, the results of the season will be deleted and the final league table of the 2018/19 season will determine which clubs will participate in the international competitions in 2020/21.
