[50] On 10 February 2023, it was announced that Romania will purchase an additional 150 Piranha 5 transporters for $674 million besides the current contract for 227 vehicles. The total order amounts to almost 380 vehicles. [51]

On 27 July 2023, the United States Department of State approved a possible sale of 21 AAV-7A1 vehicles in three configurations to Romania. This sale includes M2 Browning heavy machine guns, M240 machine guns, Mk 19 grenade launchers, M36E T1 Thermal Sighting Systems, as well as other related elements and logistical support. The total estimated value of the orders is 120.5 million dollars. [53] [54] In September 2024, the Ministry of Defence requested Parliament's approval for another 44 AAV-7, the price of which totals 210 million dollars. [55]

The Cugir Arms Factory signed an accord with Beretta for the technology transfer required to produce the ARX160 assault rifle and the Beretta Px4 Storm pistol in August 2023. According to experts, Romania showed interest in the tank. [222] After an initial order for 54 M1A2 tanks was signed, it was announced that the MBT program might increase to 300 MBTs. Other offers could include the Leopard 2 or the K2 Black Panther. [223] [224] As reported in April 2024, the K2 underwent testing in Romania between 10 and 16 May. <span class="mw-page-title-main">Romanian Special Operations Forces Command</span> Military unit

The Romanian Special Operations Forces Command is the special forces command of the Romanian Army formed on 01 March 2018 from the former 6th Special Operations Brigade. The Special Forces Command is headquartered in Târgu Mureș, and it is the structure through which the Chief of the General Staff exercises the control over all Special Forces units.

The 53rd Anti-aircraft Missiles Regiment "Trophaeum Traiani" is an air defense regiment of the Romanian Land Forces. It is currently subordinated to the 2nd Infantry Division and its headquarters are located in Medgidia. The regiment was part of the 6th Anti-aircraft Missiles Brigade, which was disbanded in 2006, due to a reorganization process of the Romanian Land Forces. The unit currently operates the 2K12 Kub surface-to-air missile systems.

The A8 motorway, also known as The Union Motorway or the East-West Motorway is a planned motorway in Romania, that will cross the Eastern Carpathians to connect the historical regions of Moldavia and Transylvania. It will directly link the cities of Iași and Târgu Mureș. The A8 motorway route is an integral part of the Trans-European Transport (TEN-T) Core Network.

The A7 motorway, also known as the Ploiești–Siret Motorway or the Moldavia Motorway, is a partially built motorway in Romania, that upon completion will link Ploiești to the north-eastern part of the country, partly along the Pan-European Corridor IX. It will run along the route: Buzău, Focșani, Bacău, Roman, Pașcani, and Suceava, connecting to Ukraine's M19 highway near Siret.

Nicolae Ionel Ciucă is a Romanian politician and retired general of the Romanian Land Forces who is serving as the president of the Senate of Romania. Ideologically a conservative, he served as Prime Minister of Romania between 25 November 2021 and 12 June 2023 after receiving widespread parliamentary support on behalf of his own party, the National Liberal Party (PNL) along with the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania (UDMR/RMDSZ). Since 10 April 2022, he has also been serving as the president of the National Liberal Party (PNL). On 12 June 2023, he resigned as prime minister, as part of a deal with his coalition partner, the PSD, to switch places with Marcel Ciolacu, and was temporarily replaced by Cătălin Predoiu.

Constantin Pantazi was a Romanian army general and a politician who served as Minister of War between January 23, 1942, and August 23, 1944. He was one of the most faithful followers of Romanian ruler Ion Antonescu. He was found guilty for war crimes and sentenced to death, which was commuted to life imprisonment.
