Ariana Grande is an American singer and actress, but mostly a singer. Her music career started in 2011 when she contributed vocals to the soundtrack albums for the American TV sitcom, Victorious , in which she also starred from 2010 to 2013. [1] Three soundtrack albums were released between 2011 and 2012. [2] [3] [4] In 2011 Grande also began to work as an independent artist outside of Victorious. Her debut single "Put Your Hearts Up", a bubblegum pop song, was released the same year. Grande later called it "inauthentic and fake" and described it as "the worst moment of my life"; she hid the video on her Vevo account. [5] After she expressed her disappointment with the song, Republic Records gave Grande more creative control over the production of her debut album. [5]

Yours Truly is the debut studio album by American singer and actress Ariana Grande. It was released on September 3, 2013, by Republic Records. Incorporating R&B, Yours Truly was influenced by Whitney Houston, Amy Winehouse, Christina Aguilera and Mariah Carey, amongst Grande's other idols. Grande describes the album's first half as a "throwback" to the R&B music of the 1990s, and the second half being "very unique and very special that I've sort of written" which is completely original. On the album, Grande co-wrote six out of the twelve tracks. Contribution by Harmony Samuels, Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, Patrick "J. Que" Smith and Victorious co-star Leon Thomas III, as well as others, handling the production on the album. Grande recorded a number of songs on this album over a three-year period. The collaborations are with Big Sean, Mika and Mac Miller, in addition to The Wanted's Nathan Sykes, who features on the song "Almost Is Never Enough" which was also included on The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones soundtrack. Occasionally, the album dips into other genres such as adult contemporary music and dance music.

The Way (Ariana Grande song) single by Ariana Grande featuring Mac Miller

"The Way" is a song recorded by American singer Ariana Grande, featuring rapper Mac Miller, from Grande's debut studio album Yours Truly (2013). It was written by the song's producer Harmony Samuels, alongside Amber Streeter, Al Sherrod Lambert, Jordin Sparks, Brenda Russell, and Miller. The song's backing track is based on the piano melody from Russell's 1979 song "A Little Bit of Love", and the song has melodic and lyrical similarities to Big Pun's 1998 song "Still Not a Player", which also samples "A Little Bit of Love".

Grande's second studio album, My Everything , was released in August 2014. [13] The lead single, "Problem" features Iggy Azalea and Big Sean (uncredited) and heavily features a saxophone in the beat. "Break Free" is an electronic dance music song produced by Zedd; it is a genre which Grande revealed she never thought she would venture into, but the experience caused her to only want to record dance songs. [14] "Break Your Heart Right Back" featuring Childish Gambino incorporates two samples: "Mo Money Mo Problems" by The Notorious B.I.G. and "I'm Coming Out" by Diana Ross. [8] Other contributing songwriters and producers on My Everything include Ryan Tedder and David Guetta, who composed "One Last Time", and Harry Styles former member of British boyband One Direction, who co-wrote "Just a Little Bit of Your Heart". [8] In November 2014, Grande was featured on Major Lazer's song "All My Love", which was included on the soundtrack to The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 . [15] The same month, Grande released a Christmas song titled "Santa Tell Me". [16]

Grande's third studio album Dangerous Woman , was released in May 2016 with positive reception.[ citation needed ] Work for the album, originally titled Moonlight, began and continued throughout 2015. "Focus" was intended to be its lead single, however the "stabbing big-band brass" track with infused horns such as the saxophone, trumpet and a trombone along with clanging percussion and cowbell was later scrapped from the album's track list following its release in October 2015.[ citation needed ] Grande returned to the studio and later released the title track of the album, which incorporated an arena rock chorus and a guitar solo during its bridge, followed by "Into You" and "Side To Side", featuring Nicki Minaj, a dancehall and reggae-pop song. Promotional singles included "Be Alright" and "Let Me Love You" featuring Lil Wayne, with the album exploring darker themes than her earlier work.[ citation needed ] The album also features collaborations with Macy Gray and Future, who was featured on the fourth and final single, "Everyday" released in January 2017.[ citation needed ] The album hit debuted in the top ten positions in the majority of the countries charts it entered.

The album is the follow-up to her second studio album My Everything (2014), and features guest appearances from Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, Macy Gray and Future. The album was originally called Moonlight after the opening track on the album, with the song "Focus" being the intended lead single. However, the album's name was later changed to Dangerous Woman, with "Focus" being removed from the album's standard track listing, though it remains as a bonus track on the Japanese edition of the album. Dangerous Woman is primarily a pop and R&B album, with influences of dance-pop, disco, house, trap, and reggae genres. Grande, Max Martin, and Savan Kotecha were the album's executive producers.

Focus (song) Song by Ariana Grande from the album Dangerous Woman (Japanese Edition)

"Focus" is a song recorded by American singer Ariana Grande. It was released on October 30, 2015 on Republic Records, and was originally intended to be the opening track as well as the lead single off Grande's third studio album, Dangerous Woman. "Dangerous Woman" replaced it as the lead single; the song was later removed from the standard-edition track listing, and was included as a bonus track on the album's Japanese version. The song was written by Grande, Savan Kotecha, Peter Svensson and its producers, Ilya Salmanzadeh and Max Martin. "Focus" features horns, with cowbells and handclaps as percussion. It was noted as musically similar to Grande's 2014 song, "Problem".

Grande's fourth studio album, Sweetener was released in August 2018 with universal acclaim. The lead single "No Tears Left to Cry" which incorporated a UK garage beat was released in April 2018, followed by "God Is a Woman", a dominantly mid-tempo pop song with trap elements, in July 2018. Grande also teamed up with Nicki Minaj in "The Light Is Coming", serving as the sole promotional single in June 2018. "Breathin", a dance-pop song containing influences of synth-pop was released as the third single in September 2018. Sonically, Sweetener explores different experimental themes, incorporating mostly pop, R&B, and trap songs along with elements of house, funk, neo soul and hip-hop. Tropical house, EDM, synthpop and minimalist urban influences are also seen on its beats and productions. [17] Missy Elliott and Pharrell Williams served as collaborators on the album on songs such as "Borderline", a 90's contemporary R&B track, and "Blazed", a high tempo song with a funk-influenced beat. Commercially, the album entered the top ten in multiple nations worldwide while breaking several of Grande's personal records.

No Tears Left to Cry 2018 single by Ariana Grande

"No Tears Left to Cry" is a song by American singer Ariana Grande from her fourth studio album, Sweetener (2018). Written by Grande, Savan Kotecha and its producers Max Martin and Ilya, it was released by Republic Records as the album's lead single on April 20, 2018, alongside its music video. The song is a dance-pop and disco song with a UK garage beat.

UK garage is a genre of electronic music originating from England in the early 1990s. The genre emerged from styles such as garage house, R&B, jungle, and dance-pop, and usually features a distinctive 4/4 percussive rhythm with syncopated hi-hats, cymbals and snares, and sometimes includes irregular kick drum patterns. Garage tracks also commonly feature 'chopped up' and time-stretched or pitch-shifted vocal samples complementing the underlying rhythmic structure at a tempo usually around 130 BPM. UK garage gave rise to subgenres such as speed garage and 2-step, and was then largely subsumed into other styles of music and production in the mid-2000s, including bassline, grime and dubstep. The decline of UK garage during the mid-2000s saw the birth of UK funky, which is closely related.
