The Power Up Tour (stylised as PWR/UP Tour) is an upcoming concert tour by Australian rock band AC/DC, in support of their seventeenth studio album Power Up (2020). The tour is set to start on 17 May 2024 in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. The Pretty Reckless will serve as the supporting act for the European leg of the tour.
AC/DC embarked on the Rock or Bust World Tour in May 2015, in support of their sixteenth studio album, Rock or Bust (2014). [2] On 7 March 2016, the members announced that the final ten dates of the tour would be rescheduled as Brian Johnson's doctors had ordered him to stop touring immediately, as he risked complete deafness if he persisted. [3] He was replaced by Guns N' Roses front man Axl Rose on 16 April. [4] Bassist Cliff Williams indicated that he would be leaving AC/DC after the tour during an interview with Gulfshore Life's Jonathan Foerste on 8 July 2016. [5] After completing the tour, AC/DC went on hiatus. In August 2018, speculation grew that former members Johnson and Rudd were back and working with the band again. A fan living near the Warehouse Studio, Vancouver claimed to have observed them in the outdoor area of the studio from an apartment window. [6] [7] A photograph of Johnson with Williams at the gymnasium of the Living Shangri-La hotel in Vancouver in December 2018 also surfaced, further indicating that Williams had also rejoined the band. [8]
On 7 October 2020, the band confirmed the upcoming release on 13 November of their next studio album, Power Up and issued its first single, "Shot in the Dark". [9] The album's track listing was revealed on their website the same day. [10] AC/DC performed a co-headlining act of the Power Trip music festival, at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California on 7 October 2023, [11] [12] with Williams being part of the line-up after coming out of retirement, [13] and American drummer Matt Laug, replacing Rudd. [14] The band have dropped clues, giving "speculation" that they would be going on another tour in 2024; [15] including an appearance in Munich's Olympic Stadium on 12 June 2024. [16] [17] [18] On 6 February 2024, the band published a teaser on their social accounts, showing the band's lightning bolt symbol flickering, before the words "Are You Ready" appear and their song of the same name. [19] [20] [21] The tour was announced on 12 February, with former Jane's Addiction member Chris Chaney replacing Williams as bassist. [22] On 16 February 2024, additional shows were later announced for Seville, Dresden and Hanover. [23] [24] American band The Pretty Reckless are set to support the band for the first European leg. [1] The band are launching five dive bars in Gelsenkirchen, Seville, Munich, London and Paris during the tour, named the High Voltage Dive Bar. [25]
Alongside the announcement of the tour, it was revealed that a public on-sale for the tour did not happen. Fans could register for a chance to buy tickets through the presale on 16 February 2024 between 9–11 am local times through all dates, [26] except on the second night in Seville, on 20 February at 9:45 am. A majority of the European dates are marked as "sold out", [27] including in Reggio Emilia, which sold out in "a few hours". [28] In Dublin, fans experience a technical issue with Ticketmaster, where almost 35,000 people are in queue to buy tickets. [29] Meanwhile, some fans were fuming about standing ticket prices being €335 or more, with one person posting on X, saying it is "daylight robbery". [30] On 28 March 2024, Creative Artists Agency co-head Chris Dalston spoke with Pollstar and reported that the band had sold 1.5 million tickets in one day for the upcoming European tour dates. AC/DC are an Australian rock band formed in 1973. They were founded by brothers Malcolm Young on rhythm guitar and Angus Young on lead guitar. Their current lineup comprises Angus, bassist Cliff Williams, drummer Phil Rudd, lead vocalist Brian Johnson, and rhythm guitarist Stevie Young, nephew of Angus and Malcolm. Their music has been variously described as hard rock, blues rock and heavy metal, but the band calls it simply "rock and roll". They are cited as a formative influence on the new wave of British heavy metal bands, such as Def Leppard and Saxon. AC/DC were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003.
Saxon are an English heavy metal band formed in Barnsley in 1975. As leaders of the new wave of British heavy metal (NWOBHM), they had eight UK Top 40 albums during the 1980s including four UK Top 10 albums and two Top 5 albums. They had numerous hit singles on the UK Singles Chart and experienced success all over Europe and Japan, as well as in the United States.
Brian Johnson is an English singer and songwriter. In 1980, after the death of Bon Scott, he became the third lead singer of the Australian rock band AC/DC.
Flick of the Switch is the ninth studio album by Australian hard rock band AC/DC. The album was deemed a commercial disappointment after it failed to match the sales figures of the band's two previous releases, 1980's Back in Black and 1981's For Those About to Rock, and its release represented the beginning of the band's commercial decline. The third AC/DC album to feature lead vocalist Brian Johnson, the album is also the last to feature drummer Phil Rudd before his return on Ballbreaker (1995). The album was re-released in 2003 as part of the AC/DC Remasters series.
Phillip Hugh Norman Rudd is an Australian drummer, best known as the drummer of AC/DC across three stints. On the 1977 departure of bass guitarist Mark Evans from AC/DC, Rudd became the only Australian-born member of the band. In 2003, he entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame along with the other members of AC/DC. In 2014, Rudd released his first solo album, Head Job. Due to ongoing legal problems in New Zealand, where he is a resident, Rudd was unable to join the band for the 2015 Rock or Bust World Tour and was replaced by Chris Slade. On 30 September 2020, AC/DC confirmed that Rudd would be rejoining the band for their comeback album Power Up.
Clifford Williams is an English musician, best known as the bassist and backing vocalist of the Australian hard rock band AC/DC. He started his professional music career in 1967 and had previously been in the English groups Home and Bandit. His first studio album with AC/DC was Powerage in 1978. Williams was inducted into the American Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of AC/DC in 2003. Williams announced his retirement from AC/DC in 2016, but returned for their 2020 comeback album Power Up along with band mates Brian Johnson and Phil Rudd. His side projects include benefit concerts.
Chris Slade is a Welsh drummer, who is perhaps best known for playing for Manfred Mann's Earth Band from its inception in 1971 to 1978 on eight albums, and AC/DC, for which he drummed from 1989 to 1994 and performed on the 1990 album The Razors Edge. He returned to AC/DC in February 2015 to replace Phil Rudd for the "Rock or Bust World Tour". Slade has also played with Tom Jones, Toomorrow, Uriah Heep, The Firm, and Asia.
Black Ice is the fifteenth studio album by Australian rock band AC/DC. First released in Europe on 17 October 2008 and released internationally on 20 October 2008, it was produced by Brendan O'Brien. It marked the band's first original recordings since Stiff Upper Lip (2000), with the eight-year gap being the longest between AC/DC's successive studio albums. Black Ice has the longest running time of any AC/DC studio album. The album was the band's final studio release to feature founding rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young, who left the band in September 2014 after being diagnosed with dementia, and died three years later.
"Back in Black" is a song by Australian rock band AC/DC. It was released as the second US single from their seventh album of the same name in 1980 through Atlantic Records. Notable for its opening guitar riff, the song was written as a tribute to the band's former singer Bon Scott, who died suddenly in February 1980. In 1981, it reached number 37 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2012, it reached number 65 in Australia and number 27 in the United Kingdom.

Rock or Bust is the group's first album to feature rhythm guitarist Stevie Young, replacing founding member Malcolm Young, who had retired from the band earlier in the year due to health concerns. It is the shortest studio album ever released by the band. At approximately 35 minutes, it is two minutes shorter than their previous shortest album, Flick of the Switch, which was released in 1983. It sold 2.8 million copies worldwide.

This is also the band's first album since the death of co-founder and rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young in 2017 and it serves as a tribute to him, according to his brother Angus; Malcolm received posthumous songwriting credits for all of the album's songs, as they were never-before released tracks written by both brothers.
"Shot in the Dark" is a single by Australian rock band AC/DC from their seventeenth studio album Power Up. The song was recorded late 2018 to early 2019. It was released on 7 October 2020, and is the band's first single released since 2015's "Rock the Blues Away" from their album Rock or Bust. The song was used as the official theme for WWE Survivor Series and is part of the MLB The Show 21 soundtrack.
