    <span class="mw-page-title-main">Central Bureau of Investigation</span> Indian federal law enforcement agency

    The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is the domestic crime investigating agency of India. It operates under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions. Originally set up to investigate bribery and governmental corruption, in 1965 it received expanded jurisdiction to investigate breaches of central laws enforceable by the Government of India, multi-state organised crime, multi-agency or international cases. CBI is exempted from the provisions of the Right to Information Act. CBI is India's officially designated single point of contact to act as the liaison with Interpol. The CBI headquarter is located in CGO Complex, near Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi.

    <span class="mw-page-title-main">Pinarayi Vijayan</span> 12th Chief Minister of Kerala

    Pinarayi Vijayan is an Indian politician who serves as the Chief Minister of Kerala since 25 May 2016. A member of the politburo of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), he is the longest-serving secretary of the Kerala State Committee of the CPI(M) (1998–2015). He has also served as Minister of Electric Power and Co-operatives during the third E. K. Nayanar ministry. Vijayan won a seat in the May 2016 Kerala Legislative Assembly election and 2021 Kerala Legislative Assembly election as the CPI(M) candidate for Dharmadom constituency and was selected as the leader of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and became the 12th Chief Minister of Kerala. He is the first chief minister from Kerala to be re-elected after completing a full term in office. In 2022, he also became the longest-continuous serving chief minister of Kerala surpassing C. Achutha Menon who had been the first to remain in office for 2364 consecutive days.

    The Marad massacre primarily refers to the 2003 murders of eight (8) Hindu fishermen by Islamic extremists, one of whom was also killed in the affray. A judicial commission that investigated the incident concluded leaders of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) were directly involved in both the conspiracy and the massacre. The commission decided the 2003 incident was "a clear communal conspiracy, with Muslim fundamentalist organisations involved". The commission could not find evidence to support the involvement of foreign organisations. The attackers threw bombs with the intention of inflicting more deaths but the bombs did not explode. In 2009, the courts convicted and sentenced 62 Muslim defendants to life imprisonment for committing the massacre.

    <span class="mw-page-title-main">Sister Abhaya murder case</span> 1992 death in India

    Sister Abhaya, a Knanaya Catholic sister, was found dead in a well filled with water in St Pius X Convent in Kottayam on March 27, 1992. Investigation into this death is by far the longest running murder investigation in the State of Kerala.

    P. K. Mohammed or Chekannur Maulavi (born in 1936) was an Indian modern Islamicist from Chekannur, Malappuram district of Kerala, India. He is the founder of the Quran Sunnath Society. He disappeared on 29 July 1993. His death is uncertain.

    K.V. Kunhiraman is an Indian politician at Udma in Kasaragode District and one of the indirect offenders in the Periya double murder case. He was born as the son of Shri K Appukkan and Smt. K V Chirutha. He studied until Pre-Degree and entered politics and became a political and social worker. He studied up to 10th standard in GHSS Uduma and Pre-Degree in Kasaragode Govt. College. He entered politics through Bala Sangam while he was a student. He was the joint secretary of Hosdurg Taluk Balam Sangam committee. He became the president and secretary of Uduma area S.F.I committee. Then he became the president of S.F.I Kasaragode District committee. During the period of 1980-87 he became the member of S.F.I Kerala state committee. He also became the president and secretary of DYFI Uduma block committee and district committee. Then he became the member of DYFI state executive committee. He was also the Secretary of BalaSangam Rakhshathikari Samithi.

    <span class="mw-page-title-main">Devikulam Assembly constituency</span> Constituency of the Kerala legislative assembly in India

    Devikulam State assembly constituency is one of the 140 state legislative assembly constituencies at the state Kerala in southern India. It is also one of the 7 state legislative assembly constituencies included in the Idukki Lok Sabha constituency. Since 2011, the constituency has been reserved for members of Scheduled Caste (SC). After the 2021 assembly elections, A. Raja of CPI(M) was elected as the MLA however he was subsequently disqualified by Kerala High Court on 20 March 2023. The Kerala High Court order was challenged in the Supreme Court, which subsequently stayed the High Court order. The final ruling is pending as on 3rd January 2025.

    Anthony Raja is an Indian politician who is serving as the MLA of Devikulam Constituency from May 2021. He was disqualified for being elected from an SC constituency as he was a Christian and not a member of any SC community. The decision was stayed by the Supreme Court subsequently and the final decision on the matter is pending as on 3rd January 2025.

    The Sharon Raj murder case, also known as the Parassala Sharon Murder Case, occurred in 2022. In this case, Greeshma, a woman, murdered her lover, Sharon Raj, a 23-year-old radiology student, by poisoning him with a pesticide-laced herbal concoction in Parassala, Thiruvananthapuram district. Greeshma committed the crime to end her relationship with Sharon.
