The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur is a public institute of technology located in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. It was declared an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India under the Institutes of Technology Act. IIT Kanpur is ranked among the most prestigious academic institutions in India.
Kanpur, formerly Cawnpore, is a large industrial city located in the central-western part of the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is the youth wing of the Indian Armed Forces with its headquarters in New Delhi, India. It is open to school and college students on voluntary basis as a Tri-Services Organisation, comprising the Army, the Navy and the Air Force, engaged in developing the youth of the country into disciplined and patriotic citizens. The soldier youth foundation in India is a voluntary organization which recruits cadets from high schools, higher secondary, colleges and universities all over India. The cadets are given basic military training in small arms and drill. The officers and cadets have no liability for active military service once they complete their course.

Prayagraj Airport, formerly known as Allahabad Airport, is the domestic airport serving the city of Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, India. It is located in the Bamrauli suburb of the city, one of the oldest airports in India. This airport is jointly operated by the Indian Air Force and the Airports Authority of India. It is third busiest airports in Uttar Pradesh after Lucknow Airport and Varanasi Airport in terms of passengers traffic and aircraft movements. Foreseeing the Kumbh 2019, the airport was upgraded with addition of a new civil terminal extension in 2018, which was constructed in record 11 months by the TATA Projects group. The airport continues to serve domestic destinations across the country, and is set to be converted into an international airport before Kumbh 2025.
Air Chief Marshal Idris Hasan Latif, PVSM was a former air officer in the Indian Air Force. He served as the 10th Chief of Air Staff (CAS) of the Indian Air Force (IAF) from 1978 to 1981. After retiring from the air force, he served as 11th Governor of Maharashtra from 1982 to 1985.
Jajmau also known as Jajesmow during British Era, is a suburb of Kanpur, India. It is situated on the banks of the Ganges River. Jajmau is an industrial suburb. It has the population of about 652,831 according to census 2011. It is believed to be the oldest inhabited place in the region. The main industry is the leather industry. It is home to some of the biggest leather tanneries in Northern India. The excavations conducted here by the Archaeological Survey of India suggest that it dates back to c. 1300 – 1200 BCE. Earthen pottery, tools and various historical artifacts discovered by the Archaeological Survey of India are presently kept in the Kanpur Sangrahalaya. The area comes under the jurisdiction of Kanpur metropolitan area.

Maintenance Command is a command of the Indian Air Force. It was raised as Maintenance Group at Chakeri in Kanpur in 1950. In 1955, it was designated as Maintenance Command. Its current headquarters is located at Vayusena Nagar in Nagpur (Maharashtra); it handles the repair, overhaul and maintenance of all aircraft, helicopters and other equipment. MC has about nine Base Repair Depots taking care of the overhaul and maintenance of various types of aircraft.

Air Vice Marshal Harjinder Singh, PVSM, MBE was an Air Officer in the Indian Air Force. He was one of the earliest to join the newly created Indian Air Force (IAF) in 1933 in the lowest rank of 'Hawai sepoy'. In a career spanning over three decades and two wars, he rose from the lowest enlisted rank to the then second-highest rank in the Indian Air Force. Hailed as technical wizard and innovator, he is considered a legend of the IAF.
Air Marshal P. K. DesaiPVSM AVSM VSM is a retired officer of the Indian Air Force (IAF). He served in the IAF from 1966 to 2004. Desai was Air Officer Commanding of Air Force Station Chakeri in Kanpur, and additionally served as Senior Maintenance Staff Officer of Maintenance Command in Nagpur and as Assistant Chief of Air Staff Engineering at Air Headquarters in New Delhi.
