Bhagwat Kishanrao Karad is an Indian politician and retired pediatric surgeon. [1] He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party,and serves as a member of the Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra. He was the Mayor of Chatrapati SambhajiNagar twice. [2] [3] [4] Karad became a Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance in the reshuffle of PM Modi's cabinet in the second term. [5]
Karad was born in Chikhali,Latur district,Maharashtra on 16 July 1956. His father was Kishan Rao and his mother was Gayabai Kishanrao Karad. He married Anjali on 21 December 1981 and has three sons. Karad studied at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University in Aurangabad and the College of Physicians &Surgeons of Mumbai,and holds a Master of Surgery in general surgery and a Magister Chirurgiae in pediatric surgery. He owns the Karad Hospital,a 50 bed multi-specialty hospital,in Chatrapati SambhajiNagar. [6] [7]
Karad served as the deputy mayor of the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation from 1997-1998. [6] He served two terms as mayor of Aurangabad (2000-2001 and 2005-2006). [8] He served as Director of REC Limited from 2018-2020. Karad was elected to the Rajya Sabha in April 2020. He became a member of the Committee on Petroleum and Natural Gas,and the Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Power and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy in June 2020. Karad was appointed as a Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance on 7 July 2021. [6]
Karad provided emergency medical aid to a passenger suffering from vasovagal syncope while flying onboard IndiGo Flight 171 from Delhi to Mumbai on 16 November 2021. [9] [10] Karad,and another member of Parliament Subhash Bhamre,again provided emergency medical aid to a passenger while flying onboard Air India Flight 443 from Delhi to Aurangabad on 17 June 2022. Sharad Govindrao Pawar is an Indian politician. He has served as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra for four terms and has also served in the Union Council Of Ministers as the Minister of Defence in the Cabinet of P.V Narsimha Rao and Minister of Agriculture in the Cabinet of Manmohan Singh. He is the first and former president of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP),which he founded in 1999,after separating from the Indian National Congress. His NCP was split by his own nephew,Ajit Pawar. He leads the his facation NCP delegation in the Rajya Sabha,the upper chamber of the Indian parliament. Shankarrao Bhavrao Chavan was an Indian politician who served as the chief minister of Maharashtra twice from 1975 until 1977 and from 13 March 1986 until 26 June 1988. He was the finance minister of India from 1988 to 1989 in Rajiv Gandhi ministry. He also served as the home minister of India twice,from 31 December 1984 to 12 March 1986 in the Rajiv Gandhi cabinet,and from 21 June 1991 to 16 May 1996 in the P. V. Narasimha Rao cabinet.
Aurangabad,also known as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar,or Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, is a city in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is the administrative headquarters of Aurangabad district and is the largest city in the Marathwada region. Located on a hilly upland terrain in the Deccan Traps,Aurangabad is the fifth-most populous urban area in Maharashtra after Mumbai,Pune,Nagpur and Nashik with a population of 1,175,116. Historically,there were 52 Gates in Aurangabad,some of them extant,because of which Aurangabad is nicknamed as the "City of Gates". In 2019,the Aurangabad Industrial City (AURIC) became the first greenfield industrial smart city of India under the country's flagship Smart Cities Mission.
Manohar Gajanan Joshi was an Indian politician from the state of Maharashtra,who served as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra from 1995 to 1999,and Speaker of the Lok Sabha from 2002 to 2004. Although a parliamentary democracy,Indian politics has increasingly become dynastic,possibly due to the absence of a party organization,independent civil society associations that mobilize support for the party,and centralized financing of elections. Family members have also led the Congress party for most of the period since 1978 when Indira Gandhi floated the then Congress(I) faction of the party. It also is fairly common in many political parties in Maharashtra. The dynastic phenomenon is seen from national level down to district level and even village level.The three-tier structure of Panchayati Raj established in the 1960s also helped to create and consolidate the dynastic phenomenon in rural areas. Apart from government,political families also control cooperative institutions,mainly cooperative sugar factories,district cooperative banks in the state,and since the 1980s private for profit colleges. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party also features several senior leaders who are dynasts. In Maharashtra,the NCP has particularly high level of dynasticism.
Dr Subhash Ramrao Bhamre is an Indian politician and reelected in 17th Lok Sabha. He was a member of the 16th Lok Sabha. He represents the Dhule constituency of Maharashtra and is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) political party.
Dr. Vikas Mahatme is Padmashri Awarded Indian ophthalmologist,social entrepreneur,visionary and a former member of the Parliament in Rajya Sabha. He has expressed support for implementing Scheduled Tribe reservation for Dhangar community in Maharashtra and is its first community member to get elected to parliament. He is currently a member of the Indian Nursing Council.
