DART First State operates four year-round inter-county bus routes, two of which connect New Castle and Kent counties and two of which connect Kent and Sussex counties. [1] [2] [3] [4] A fifth seasonal inter-county bus route serves the Delaware Beaches from May to September, providing access from New Castle and Kent counties. [5]

Delaware Route 1 (DE 1) is a 103.02-mile-long (165.79 km) state highway in the U.S. state of Delaware. The route runs from the Maryland border in Fenwick Island, Sussex County, where the road continues south into that state as Maryland Route 528 (MD 528), north to an interchange with DE 58 in Christiana, New Castle County, where the road continues north as part of DE 7. Between Fenwick Island and Dover Air Force Base in Dover, Kent County, DE 1 is a four- to six-lane divided highway with at-grade intersections and occasional interchanges. The route heads north past the Delaware Beaches along the Atlantic Ocean before it runs northwest through rural areas, turning north at Milford to continue to Dover. Upon reaching Dover, DE 1 becomes the Korean War Veterans Memorial Highway, a four- to six-lane freeway that is tolled. Between Dover and Tybouts Corner, DE 1 parallels U.S. Route 13 (US 13), crossing over and featuring interchanges with it multiple times. Past Tybouts Corner, the freeway heads north to Christiana, reaching an interchange with Interstate 95 (I-95) a short distance before its terminus. DE 1 serves as the main north-south state route in Delaware, connecting the Delaware Beaches with the Dover and Wilmington areas.

DART First State

The Delaware Transit Corporation, operating as DART First State, is the only public transportation system that operates throughout the U.S. state of Delaware. DART First State provides local and inter-county bus service throughout the state and also subsidizes commuter rail service along SEPTA Regional Rail's Wilmington/Newark Line serving the northern part of the state. The agency also operates statewide paratransit service for people with disabilities. DART First State is a subsidiary of the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT).

DART First State Sussex County bus routes

DART First State operates nine year-round bus which serve Sussex County. The year-round routes operate Monday-Friday with some Saturday service. Three of the year-round routes are "Flex Routes", where passengers can make reservations for the bus to pick them up within a mile off the fixed route and also flag the bus at any location in designated Flag Zones. DART First State operates six seasonal routes, branded as "Beach Bus", daily from May to September to serve the Delaware Beaches. Four of the year-round routes offer expanded service in the summer as part of the "Beach Bus" program. Bus service in Sussex County is operated under contract by First Transit.

Christiana Mall

The Christiana Mall is a super-regional shopping mall located between the cities of Newark and Wilmington, Delaware, United States. The mall is situated at the intersection of Interstate 95 and Delaware Route 1/Delaware Route 7, near the Cavaliers Country Club, and close to the center of the Northeast megalopolis.

DART First State Kent County bus routes

DART First State operates 10 bus routes Mondays through Fridays with some Saturday service as a hub-and-spoke system out of the Dover Transit Center in Dover, serving Kent County. These routes are numbered in the 100-series. In addition to the fixed-route service, GoLink Flex bus service formerly provided service from points within the Dover area to a free transfer to a fixed route. This service was available on weekdays through advance reservations. GoLink Flex bus service was discontinued in May 2017 due to low usage.

DART First State New Castle County bus routes

DART First State operates 34 fixed-route bus routes throughout New Castle County, serving the cities of Wilmington and Newark. Most of the routes operate Monday through Saturday with some Sunday service.

March 20–22, 2018 noreaster

The March 20–22, 2018 nor'easter was a significant late-season nor'easter – the fourth to affect the Northeastern United States during the month of March 2018 – that impacted the Mid-Atlantic states and New England with over 18 in (46 cm) of heavy snow and whiteout conditions. The three previous such storms had struck the general region on March 1–3, 6–8, and 12–14, respectively. It also affected areas of the Southeastern and Midwestern United States with both snowfall and severe weather. The nor'easter was also one of the heaviest spring snowstorms on record in some areas in the Mid-Atlantic, especially Philadelphia and New York City. Originating from a surface low that formed over the Rocky Mountains, the system tracked across the central United States, bringing some wintry weather to surrounding areas as well as severe weather in the South. It then reached the Northeastern U.S. on March 20–21 and – while moving slowly near the shorelines of Delaware, New Jersey and Long Island – dropped heavy snowfall with rates of up to 5 inches (13 cm) an hour in some spots. The storm was given unofficial names such as Winter Storm Toby and Nor'easter 4.

Dover Transit Center

The Dover Transit Center is a park and ride lot and bus terminal located in the city of Dover in Kent County, Delaware. The transit center serves DART First State buses, with service provided by eight local bus routes serving Dover and Kent County and four inter-county bus routes that provide service to Wilmington, Newark, Georgetown, and Lewes. The Dover Transit Center opened in 2010 to replace the Water Street Transfer Center as the main bus terminal for DART First State in Dover.

Newark Transit Hub

The Newark Transit Hub is a bus terminal located in the city of Newark in New Castle County, Delaware. The transit hub serves DART First State buses, with service provided by five local bus routes serving New Castle County. In addition to DART First State buses, the Newark Transit Hub also serves Cecil Transit buses providing service to Elkton, Maryland along with UNICITY buses that serve as a community circulator around Newark. The transit hub opened in 2008.

Lewes Transit Center

The Lewes Transit Center is a park and ride lot and bus terminal owned by the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) that is located in Five Points near the city of Lewes in Sussex County, Delaware. The transit center serves DART First State buses, with service provided by four local bus routes, three of which operate year-round, with expanded service during the summer months, and one of which operates seasonally during the summer months, serving Sussex County and the Delaware Beaches. The bus terminal also serves two inter-county bus routes that provide year-round service to Dover and summer weekend and holiday service from Wilmington. The Lewes Transit Center opened in 2017.

Simcoe County LINX is a public transport service managed by Simcoe County and operated by First Student Canada, which is responsible for inter-community regional bus service throughout Simcoe County and its environs, connecting rural towns and townships to cities in the region such as Barrie and Orillia. Service began in 2018 with a single trial route, operating with a mixed fleet of low-floor midibuses and accessible paratransit vehicles. In August 2019, service was expanded to four routes. Service on Route 5 began in summer 2020, and an additional route is planned.
