The Fabius-class aircraft repair ship was a class of repair ships that were operated by the United States Navy during World War II. [1]
Fabius-class was a ship class consisting of two modified LST-542-class tank landing ships, where they serve as aircraft repair ships in late 1945. They have the same hull measurements with changes taken place on their armaments and displacements, alongside a workshop to carry out their role. Only LST-1093 (Fabius) and LST-1095 (Megara) were chosen to be modified and redesignated ARVA, with "A" standing for "Aircraft". [1]
Both ships survived the war and were mothballed for a short while, before Fabius was reactivated amid the Korean War in the 1950s. Mexico bought Megara and renamed her to ARM General Vincente Guerrero (A-05). [2]

USS LST-455 was a United States Navy LST-1-class tank landing ship used in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during World War II. She was converted at Sydney, Australia, into an Achelous-class repair ship, shortly after commissioning, and used in the repairing of landing craft. Named after the Greek hero Achilles, she was the only US Naval vessel to bear the name.
Landing Ship, Tank (LST), or tank landing ship, is the naval designation for ships first developed during World War II (1939–1945) to support amphibious operations by carrying tanks, vehicles, cargo, and landing troops directly onto shore with no docks or piers. Newport-class tank landing ships were an improved class of tank landing ship (LST) designed for and employed by the United States Navy from 1969 to 2002. The ships were intended to provide substantial advantages over their World War II-era predecessors. Larger and faster than any previous LST design, they carried a ramp over the bow that allowed them to surpass 20 knots, a goal of the United States amphibious forces. 27 were planned of which twenty were completed, the high number due to the demands of US force projection estimates. Placed in reserve, twelve were eventually sold to foreign navies, while the remaining eight have since been decommissioned.

Carrier Aircraft Service Units (CASU) were United States Navy units formed during World War II for the Pacific War to support naval aircraft operations. From 1942 to 1946, 69 Carrier Aircraft Service Units were formed to repair and maintain aircraft. The first unit was deployed to Naval Station Pearl Harbor. The CASU-11, was deployed on January 22, 1943 at Naval Air Station San Diego. During the war the Navy lacked enough aircraft carriers to complete all the operational requirements.
