The Jamia Masjid Bhaderwah is a mosque located in the town of Bhaderwah, in the Doda district of Indian-administered union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The mosque has a rich history, with its origins dating back 118 years, as of 2019. It is the oldest mosque in the Doda district and has been a focal point for the local Muslim community for over a century. [1]
Tragically, the original Jamia Masjid, along with the adjacent Islamia School and an orphanage, was destroyed during a devastating flood in 1928. This flood was the result of a massive cloudburst, and it brought significant destruction to the town of Bhaderwah, including the loss of lives, property, and livestock. [1]
The Jamia Masjid Bhaderwah consists of a central building with two halls and side rooms, along with four lofty minarets situated at the corners. [1]
The Jamia Masjid Bhaderwah continues to be a place of worship for the local Muslim population. It attracts gatherings of Muslims [2] , especially on Fridays, for congregational prayers and religious gatherings. [1] [3] The mosque the center for mass protests by local muslims. [4] [5]

Village Defence Guards (VDGs) formerly known as Village Defence Committees is a civilian militia first established in the mid-1990s in the Chenab Valley area of Indian-administered territory of Jammu and Kashmir for the self-defence of locals, especially Hindus, in remote hilly villages against militancy. Saraz or Siraj is a hilly region in the eastern part of the Jammu division of Jammu and Kashmir in northern India. Jai Valley is an enchanting valley located 32 kilometres (20 mi) northeast of Bhaderwah town in Jammu and Kashmir, India. The Bhaderwah-Jai road, which passes through the corniferous deodar forests of Nakshri, Balote, Bhalara and Chinta Valley connects the valley with the Bhaderwah town. The valley has green meadows which act as the attraction for tourists in summers and the snow-covered landscape during winters. Jai valley has about 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) long meadows, bisected by a stream called Jai Nallah which merges with a tributary of river Chenab at Kahara in tehsil Thathri. It is also known by the names Jai Garh and Jai Top. The valley is also connected through a 37 kilometres (23 mi) long road with Gandoh. There is no Mobile Network in this valley.
Alhaj Ghulam Qadir Ganipuri was a Muslim scholar and spiritual leader. He was the founder of Madrasa Jamia Guni tul Uloom Akhyarpur (Bhatyas) in the Bhalessa, Doda district, of India, which was established in 1983 and named after Abdul Gani Sadiqui. Every year, seminars and literary programs are organized in his memory. During the 2014 Kashmir floods, Ganipuri and some NGOs of the Chenab valley helped flood-ravaged houses and families.
