The Malik Dinar Mosque, also known locally as the Malik Deenar Masjid and Malik Deenar Juma Masjid, and officially known as the Hazrath Malik Deenar Grand Juma Masjid, is a Sufi Sunni mosque and dargah, located in Thalangara, in the town of Kasaragod, in the state of Kerala, India. Founded by Malik Dinar and believed to been completed in c. AH 22 (642/643 CE), it is one of the oldest mosques in India. The two-storey mosque was built in the Kerala-Islamic traditional style; and was extensively remodelled in the Islamic style in 2018.

Thalangara is a part of Kasaragod Town, the district headquarters of the Kasaragod district in the South Indian state of Kerala. Malik Denar Juma Masjid and Dargah is located here. Its economy is dependent on remittance from expatriate workers in the Persian Gulf, particularly Dubai. Thalangara consists of areas like Padinhar(Westyork), Kunnil, Kadavath, Khazilane, Nuppadamail, Bangod, Theruvath, and Korkode. The areas of Thalangara consist of smaller mohallas (localities) and each locality has its own mosque and madrassa.

Chempittapally, also known as Chembitta Palli and as Chembittapally Juma Masjid, is a Sifi Friday mosque in the Mattancherry neighbourhood, in Kochangadi, Kochi, in the Ernakulam district of the state of Kerala, India. Built between 1520 and 1540, the roof of the mosque was decorated with copper tiles, hence chempitta pally. The mosque was built in the Kerala-Islamic style, and is located within a heritage area, near the MANI-listed Mattancherry Palace.

The Cheraman Juma Mosque is a mosque in Kodungallur in the Thrissur district, in the state of Kerala, India. According to hagiographical legends, it is claimed that the mosque was built in 629 CE by Malik Bin Dinar; and consequently, it is claimed to be the first mosque to be built in India, and the oldest mosque on the Indian subcontinent that is in current use.

Thrissur is the administrative capital of Thrissur District, in the central part of Kerala state, India. Thrissur district was formed on 1 July 1949. It is an important cultural centre, and is known as the Cultural Capital of Kerala. It is famous for the Thrissur Pooram festival, one of the most colourful and spectacular temple festival of Kerala. From ancient times, Thrissur has been politically, economically and culturally significant to the Indian subcontinent. It has opened the gates for Arabs, Romans, Portuguese, Dutch and English. According to tradition, Thrissur is where Christianity, Islam and Judaism entered the Indian subcontinent. Local Christian tradition holds that Thomas the Apostle arrived in 52 CE, and Muslim tradition states that Methala is the location of country's first mosque.

The Thazhathangady Juma Masjid, also known as Taj Juma Masjid, is a mosque situated in Thazhathangady, in the district of Kottayam, in one of the heritage zones of the state of Kerala, India, The mosque is located adjacent to the Meenachil River. Completed in c. 824 CE, the mosque is one of the oldest mosques in India.

Vallikkunnu is a village in Tirurangadi Taluk of Malappuram district in the state of Kerala, India with an area of 25 km2. It is located 5 km north of Parappanangadi town and comes under the jurisdiction of Parappanangadi Police Station and Parappanangadi Judicial First Class Magistrate Court. Its latitude and longitude are 11'07" N and 7'51"E respectively. Vallikkunnu was awarded the best panchayath of Kerala in 1997. Vallikunnu is situated on Tirur-Kadalundi Road. Vallikkunnu is also a part of the Oldest Railway Line of Kerala laid in 1861 from Tirur to Chaliyam via Tanur, Parappanangadi, Vallikkunnu, and Kadalundi.

The Jamiul Futuh, officially known as the Jāmi'ul Futūh, and also known as The Indian Grand Masjid and the Shahre Mubarak Grand Mosque, is a Shafi‘i Sunni mosque, located in Markaz Knowledge City, in the Kozhikode district of the state of Kerala, in the south of India. It is the largest mosque in India. The congregation was founded by Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad, the Grand Mufti of India, and welcomed its first visitors in September 2023.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Arakkal kingdom</span> Erstwhile Muslim Monarchy in North Kerala

Arakkal Kingdom was a Muslim kingdom in Kannur town in Kannur district, in the state of Kerala, South India. The king was called Ali Raja and the ruling queen was called Arakkal Beevi. Arakkal kingdom included little more than the Cannanore town and the southern Laccadive Islands, originally leased from the Kolattiri. They owed allegiance to the Kolattiri rulers, whose ministers they had been at one time. The rulers followed the Marumakkathayam system of matrilineal inheritance, a system that is unique to a section of Hindus of Kerala. Under Marumakkathayam, the succession passes to the male offspring of its female members, in other words from a man to his sister's son and so forth. As the only Muslim rulers in Malabar, they saw the rise of Hyder Ali, de facto ruler of the Mysore Sultanate as the opportunity to increase their own power at the expense of Chirakkal, and invited him to invade Kerala.

The Madayi Mosque, also known as the Matayi Palli, and as the Pazhayangadi Mosque or as the Malik ibn Dinar Mosque, Madayi, is a Shāfiʿī Sunni mosque, located at Pazhayangadi, in the Kannur district, in the northern part of the state of Kerala, India. It is one of the oldest mosques in Kerala, with local legends dating the mosque from AH 518 (1124/1125 CE).

The Madina Mosque is a four-storey Sunni mosque in Shillong, in the state of Meghalaya, India. The mosque is the only glass mosque in India, and reputedly the first glass mosque in Asia, and making India the third country to have a mosque built of glass. It is one of the largest mosques in Northeast India, and the biggest in Meghalaya, accommodating more than 2,000 worshippers for congregational prayers. The mosque was opened on 18 October 2012 by the General Secretary of the Shillong Muslim Union Sayeedullah Nongrum and was inaugurated by Salman Khurshid, Shamim Akhtar, and Vincent Pala.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Masjid Zeenath Baksh</span> Mosque in Karnataka, India

The Zeenath Baksh Juma Masjid, commonly known as Masjid Zeenath Baksh, and also known as Beliye Palli, is the third oldest mosque in India and the oldest in the state of Karnataka, constructed in AH 22 (642/643 CE). The mosque is located in the Bunder area in the city of Mangalore and is known for its pure Indian style, reminiscent of Dravidian architecture.

Qissat Shakarwati Farmad is an Arabic manuscript of anonymous authorship. It is argued that the qissat is the oldest, most detailed, and comprehensive recorded version of the Cheraman Perumal legend.
