It originates in a farm field approximately two miles south of Kempton, Indiana, and travels west-southwest for about 93 miles (150 km) before merging with the Wabash River 5 miles (8.0 km) north of Montezuma. The largest community on the waterway is Crawfordsville.

The Wilkins Mill Covered Bridge is north of Rockville, Indiana, United States. The single span Burr Arch Truss covered bridge structure was built by William Hendricks in 1906. The bridge is 120 feet (37 m) long, 16 feet (4.9 m) wide, and 13 feet (4.0 m) high.

Wabash and Erie Canal Culvert #100, also known as Burnett's Creek Arch and County Bridge #181, is a historic culvert built for the Wabash and Erie Canal and located at Adams Township, Carroll County, Indiana. It was built in 1840, and is a semicircular span measuring 20 feet long, 10 feet high, and 87 feet, 6 inches wide. It is constructed of limestone slabs. The culvert now supports a county roadway.
Carrollton Bridge, also known as Carroll County Bridge #132, is a historic closed-spandrel arch bridge that spans the Wabash River in Adams Township, Deer Creek Township, and Tippecanoe Township, Carroll County, Indiana. It was designed by Daniel B. Luten and built in 1927. It consists of six reinforced concrete arches. It has an overall length of 619 feet 4 inches (188.77 m).
Indiana State Highway Bridge 42-11-3101, also known as Poland Bridge, is a historic Parker through truss bridge located in Cass Township, Clay County, Indiana. It was built by the Vincennes Bridge Company and erected in 1939. It carries State Road 42 over the Eel River. It measures 175 feet long and rests on a concrete abutment and concrete pier.
Feeder Dam Bridge, also known as the Eel River Bridge and Clay County Bridge No. 208, is a historic Whipple through truss bridge located in Harrison Township and Sugar Ridge Township, Clay County, Indiana. It was built in 1894 and carries Towpath Road over the Eel River. It consists of a single 206-foot-long (63 m) span and rests on stone abutments.
Aqueduct Bridge, also known as the Coffey Bridge and Clay County Bridge #182, is a historic Pratt through truss and Pratt pony truss bridge located in Perry Township and Sugar Ridge Township, Clay County, Indiana. The original span was built by the Cleveland Bridge and Iron Company in 1880 and the second section by the Vincennes Bridge Company in 1920. It carries Towpath Road over Birch Creek. The original span measures 60 feet (18 m) and the second span 102 feet (31 m) long. They rest on concrete abutments and a central pier.
Eaglefield Place, also known as Eaglesfield-Hunt Farm and Western Eyrie Farm, is a historic home and farm bridge located in Van Buren Township, Clay County, Indiana. The house was built about 1855, and is a two-story, Greek Revival style frame dwelling with a gable roof. Also on the property are a contributing American Craftsman style frame barn, chicken house, and shed.
Champ's Ford Bridge, also known as Decatur County Bridge #124, is a historic stone arch bridge located in Clay Township, Decatur County, Indiana. It was built in 1904, and consists of four segmental arches constructed of Indiana Laurel limestone. It measures 118 feet long and 17 feet, 4 inches, wide.
Westport Covered Bridge is a historic covered bridge located in Sand Creek Township, Decatur County, Indiana. It was built in 1880, and is a single span, Burr arch bridge on limestone abutments. It measures 130 feet long, 16 feet wide and 13 feet high. It is topped by a gable roof and sided with shiplap siding. It has been limited to pedestrian traffic since 1973.
Richland-Plummer Creek Covered Bridge, also known as County Bridge #86, is a historic covered bridge located in Taylor Township, Greene County, Indiana. It was built in 1883, and is a Burr Arch Truss structure measuring 102 feet long, 14 feet wide, and 16 feet tall. The single span bridge has walls clad in board and batten siding with Italianate style design elements.
Lamb's Creek Bridge, also known as Morgan County Bridge No. 146 and Burnett's Creek Bridge, is a historic Pratt through truss bridge located in Jefferson Township, Morgan County, Indiana. It was built in 1893 by the Wrought Iron Bridge Company. It is 85 feet (26 m) long and 16 feet (4.9 m) wide. It is supported by cast-in-place concrete abutments.
Eugene Covered Bridge, also known as County Bridge No. 75, is a historic Burr Arch Truss covered bridge located in Eugene Township, Vermillion County, Indiana. It was built in 1873, and is a single span covered timber bridge. It measures 180 feet long and 16 feet wide. The bridge spans the Big Vermilion River.
Newport Covered Bridge, also known as the Morehead Covered Bridge and County Bridge No. 67, is a historic Burr Arch Truss covered bridge located in Vermillion Township, Vermillion County, Indiana.
