Comair was a wholly owned subsidiary airline of Delta Air Lines, headquartered on the grounds of Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport in Boone County, Kentucky, United States, west of Erlanger, and south of Cincinnati. Comair operated passenger services to 83 destinations in the USA, Canada, Mexico and the Bahamas at its peak in 2005. [1]

Route history

Comair operated as a Delta Connection carrier under Delta Air Lines, with its main hub located at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG). In its earliest years, Comair built up a hub-and-spoke network from Cincinnati (CVG) and Orlando (MCO). Comair went public starting in 1981, promoting a large expansion in destinations and routes. [2] In 1984, Comair began service under Delta Air Lines and introduced its first international flights from Cincinnati to Toronto. [3]

Comair ceased operations on September 29, 2012, at which point its Cincinnati hub, aircraft, and routes were transferred to Pinnacle Airlines.

Best Airlines was a small airline that flew to a miscellaneous and changing group of cities in the Mid-Atlantic United States in the mid-1980s. Their headquarters was in the Covington, Kentucky area which is near the Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky International Airport. The May 15, 1983 timetable indicates headquarters in Florence, KY and the January 7, 1985 timetable indicates headquarters in Ft. Mitchell, KY. According to the Official Airline Guide (OAG), the two letter airline code for Best was "IW".

Ultimate Air Shuttle is an airline based in Cincinnati, Ohio. It is the operating name of Ultimate Jetcharters LLC, an FAR Part 135 air charter carrier. Ultimate Air Shuttle previously operated public charter flights on a published schedule, serving key business routes from Cincinnati Municipal Lunken Airport that were reduced by Delta Air Lines and Comair. The airline had to suspend operations from late 2020 to mid-2021 and again from December 16, 2021, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on business travel.

Delta Private Jets, Inc. was an airline of the United States. Its corporate headquarters was on the property of Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport in Boone County, Kentucky. It operated jet aircraft as a subsidiary of Delta Air Lines. Its main base was Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.

Delta Connection is a regional airline brand name for Delta Air Lines, under which a number of individually owned regional airlines primarily operate short- and medium-haul routes. Mainline major air carriers often use regional airlines to operate services via code sharing agreements in order to increase frequencies in addition to serving routes that would not sustain larger aircraft as well as for other competitive or operational reasons.

Enterprise Airlines was a scheduled airline based in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. It operated scheduled service to 14 destinations from Cincinnati and from another focus city, Columbus Ohio.
