Laâyoune or El Aaiún is the largest city of the disputed territory of Western Sahara and de facto administered by Morocco. The modern city is thought to have been founded by the Spanish colonizer Antonio de Oro in 1938. In 1940, Spain designated it as the capital of the Spanish Sahara. Laâyoune is the capital of the Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra region administered by Morocco under the supervision of the UN peace-keeping mission in Western Sahara (MINURSO).
Zinder, formerly also spelled Sinder, is the third largest city in Niger, with a population of 170,574 ; by the 2012 census its population reached 235,605. It is situated 861 km (535 mi) east of the capital Niamey and 240 km (150 mi) north of the Nigerian city of Kano.
Tahoua is a city in Niger and the administrative centre of the Department of Tahoua and the larger Tahoua Region. It is the fourth largest town in the country, with a population of 117,826.
Ndola is the second city in Zambia in terms of infrastructural development and third in terms of size and population, with a population of 475,194, after the capital, Lusaka, and Kitwe. It is the industrial and commercial center of the Copperbelt, Zambia's copper-mining region, and capital of Copperbelt Province. It lies just 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) from the border with DR Congo. It is also home to Zambia's first modern stadium, the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
Dosso is a city in the south-west corner of Niger. It lies 130–140 kilometres (81–87 mi) south-east of the capital Niamey at the junction of the main routes to Zinder and Benin. The eighth-most populous town in Niger and the largest in Dosso Region, it had an official population during the 2001 census of 43,561. The population grew to 58,671 in the 2012 census. It is the capital of its region - which covers five departments in the southwestern corner of the nation - as well as of its own department, Dosso Department. The city itself lies at the centre of its own Urban Commune.
Birni-N'Konni is a town in the Tahoua Region of Niger, lying immediately north of the border of Nigeria and west of seasonal Maggia River. It is an important market town and transport hub and as of the 2012 census had a population of 63,169. The town is the historic centre of the small pre-colonial Hausa state of Konni. The name comes from the Hausa for "Walled Town of Konni", and many Hausa towns designate the old citadel neighbourhood the "Birni".
Rahim Yar Khan is a city in Punjab province of Pakistan. It is the 17th largest city of Pakistan. It is the capital of Rahim Yar Khan District and of Rahim Yar Khan Tehsil. The administration of the city is subdivided into nine Union Councils. In 1881, Nawab of Bahawalpur gave this city its current name by naming it after his first-born son and crown prince Rahim Yar Khan.
Lundazi is a town in eastern Zambia, lying near the border with Malawi, around 116 mi (187 km) from Chipata. Lundazi is known as a "Boma" or administrative centre. It was a former colonial headquarters. Lundazi is the District Capital — or "county seat" — for Lundazi District, which is the central portion of Eastern Zambia. It is perched high above the eastern side of the Luangwa Valley, and close to a quiet border crossing to Malawi.
Choma is a town that serves as the capital of the Southern Province of Zambia. It is also the capital of Choma District, one of the thirteen administrative districts in the province.
Lusaka is the capital and largest city of Zambia. It is one of the fastest developing cities in southern Africa. Lusaka is in the southern part of the central plateau at an elevation of about 1,279 metres (4,196 ft). As of 2010, the city's population was about 1.7 million, while the urban population is estimated at 2.5 million in 2018. Lusaka is the centre of both commerce and government in Zambia and connects to the country's four main highways heading north, south, east and west. English is the official language of the city administration, while Nyanja and Bemba are the commonly spoken street languages.
Mwandi is a small town on the Zambezi in the district of the same name of the Western Province in Zambia. The town is 120 km west of Livingstone, on the M10 Road to Sesheke. The village is part of the region known as Barotseland. The town is the seat of a parliamentary constituency of the same name.
Shibuyunji District is a district of Central Province, Zambia. It was moved from Lusaka Province to Central Province by President Edgar Lungu in 2018.
