This list of cities in Mali tabulates all the largest communes in the country of Mali (including those in the north-eastern portion where the Mali Government no longer exercises de facto control). Besides the largest cities and towns (all urban communes are shown), this table also includes other large rural communes with a population in excess of 50,000.

By far the largest agglomeration in Mali is the capital, Bamako, with a population of 1,809,106 (at the 2009 Census). Thus about 12½ percent of Mali's population lives in Bamako.

The following table lists all communes with over 50,000 population from the 1 April 2009 census, together with the higher-level administrative unit (région) and second-level unit (cercle) in which each is situated. The population figures refer to the real city (i.e. commune) without any suburbs in neighbouring communes.

Bamako is a separate capital district and is not within any région or cercle; it comprises six urban communes (not individually listed in the table below), which are numbered rather than named.

The Malian Armed Forces consists of the Army, Republic of Mali Air Force, and National Guard. They number some 7,000 and are under the control of the Minister of Armed Forces and Veterans. A reorganization of the country from eight to nineteen regions was passed into law in 2012, but of the new regions, only Taoudénit and Ménaka have begun to be implemented. Each of the regions bears the name of its capital. The regions are divided into 56 cercles. The cercles and the capital district are divided into 703 communes.

Kita is a town and urban commune in western Mali. The town is the capital of the Kita Cercle in the Kayes Region. It lies on the eastern slope of Mount Kita, known for its caves and rock paintings. Today, the town is known for its music, its annual Roman Catholic pilgrimage and its role as a processing center for the surrounding cotton- and peanut-growing region. Kita lies on the Dakar-Niger Railway and is the largest transit hub between Bamako and Kayes. In the 2018 census the urban commune had a population of 463,787.

Dioïla Cercle is an administrative subdivision of the Koulikoro Region of Mali. Its seat is the town of Dioïla. It lies at the southeast corner of the region, and prior to 1977, it was combined with what is now Kati Cercle and the District of Bamako in the "Bamako Cercle", with the capital city as its seat.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Kamëz</span> Municipality in Tirana, Albania

Kamëz is a municipality in Tirana County, Albania. It was formed at the 2015 local government reform by the merger of the former municipalities Kamëz and Paskuqan, that became municipal units. The seat of the municipality is the town Kamëz. The total population is 104,190, in a total area of 37.20 km2. The population of the former municipality at the 2011 census was 66,841.

Kolondiéba Cercle is an administrative subdivision of the Sikasso Region of Mali. The administrative center (chef-lieu) is the town of Kolondiéba.

Kalabancoro or Kalaban Koro is a rural commune and town in the cercle of Kati within the Koulikoro Region of south-western Mali. The commune has become part of the suburbs of Bamako, the Malian capital. It lies on the south side of the Niger River, to the south and west of the urban communes V and VI of Bamako. The commune is growing very rapidly. In 1998 it had a population of 35,582 but by 2009 this had grown to 166,722. It is now Mali's third most populous commune, and by far the most populous rural commune.

Diédougou is a rural commune in the Cercle of Dioïla in the Koulikoro Region of south-western Mali. The commune contains 34 villages. The administrative center (chef-lieu) is at the village of Béléko Soba which lies 205 km east of Bamako. In the 2009 census the commune had a population of 39,021.

Dogo is a small town and commune in the Cercle of Bougouni in the Sikasso Region of southern Mali. As of 2009 the commune had a population of 33,466.

Madiama is a rural commune and village in the Cercle of Djenné in the Mopti Region of Mali. The commune contains ten villages.

Bondo is a village and commune and seat of the Cercle of Koro in the Mopti Region of Mali. In 1998 the commune had a population of 15,872 In 2009, population was almost 20,000.
