<span class="mw-page-title-main">Graham Land</span> Section of the Antarctic Peninsula and surrounding islands

Graham Land is the portion of the Antarctic Peninsula that lies north of a line joining Cape Jeremy and Cape Agassiz. This description of Graham Land is consistent with the 1964 agreement between the British Antarctic Place-names Committee and the US Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names, in which the name "Antarctic Peninsula" was approved for the major peninsula of Antarctica, and the names Graham Land and Palmer Land for the northern and southern portions, respectively. The line dividing them is roughly 69 degrees south.

Ketchum Glacier is an eastward flowing glacier at the base of Palmer Land, Antarctica, about 50 nautical miles (90 km) long, descending between the Latady Mountains and the Scaife Mountains into Gardner Inlet. It was discovered by the Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (RARE), 1947–48, under Finn Ronne, who named it for Commander Gerald Ketchum, U.S. Navy, commander of the icebreaker USS Burton Island (AG-88) which broke the ice to free the RARE from Marguerite Bay for the return home.

Shabica Glacier is a northern tributary glacier to the Clifford Glacier, joining it near its terminus just east of Mount Tenniel, in Palmer Land. Mapped by United States Geological Survey (USGS) in 1974. Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for Stephen V. Shabica, United States Antarctic Research Program (USARP) biologist and Station Scientific Leader at Palmer Station in 1970.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Sikorski Glacier</span> Glacier in Antarctica

The Sikorski Glacier is a small glacier in the north-eastern part of the Noville Peninsula, Thurston Island, Ellsworth Land, Antarctica. It flows north-east to the Bellingshausen Sea between Mount Palmer and Mount Feury. It was first roughly delineated from aerial photos taken by the USN's Operation Highjump in 1946–47. It was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for Stephen Sikorski, electronics technician on USS Glacier, who assisted in setting up an automatic weather station on Thurston Island during the USN's Bellingshausen Sea Expedition in February 1960.

Yates Glacier is a glacier 3 miles (4.8 km) south of Matheson Glacier, discharging into the west side of Lehrke Inlet on the east coast of Palmer Land. It was named by United Kingdom Antarctic Place-Names Committee (UK-APC) after JohnYates, a British Antarctic Survey (BAS) surveyor, based at Stonington Island Base E, who worked in the general vicinity of this feature from 1972 to 1974.

Gain Glacier is a large glacier on the east coast of Palmer Land, Antarctica, flowing northeast from Cat Ridge and entering the Weddell Sea between Imshaug Peninsula and Morency Island. It was mapped by the United States Geological Survey in 1974, and was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for Louis Gain, a naturalist on the French Antarctic Expedition, 1908–10, and the author of several of the expedition reports on zoology and botany.

Anthony Glacier is a glacier which flows in an east-southeast direction to the east coast of Palmer Land where it terminates opposite the south tip of Hearst Island. The upper part of this glacier was seen by a sledge party of the British Graham Land Expedition under John Riddoch Rymill in 1936–37. The glacier was seen from the seaward side in 1940 by a sledging party from the East Base of the United States Antarctic Service, and in 1947 was photographed from the air by the Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (RARE). It was named by Finn Ronne for Alexander Anthony of the J.P. Stevens Company, New York City, which contributed windproof clothing to the RARE.

Armstrong Glacier is a glacier flowing from the south side of Mount Bagshawe westward into George VI Sound. It provides the only known safe route for mechanical vehicles from George VI Sound to the Palmer Land plateau. It was named by the United Kingdom Antarctic Place-Names Committee for Edward B. Armstrong, British Antarctic Survey surveyor at Stonington Island, 1964–65.

Barcus Glacier is a glacier in the Hutton Mountains that drains east-southeast, to the north of Mount Nash and Mount Light, into Keller Inlet in Palmer Land. It was mapped by the United States Geological Survey from ground surveys and from U.S. Navy air photos, 1961–67, and named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for James R. Barcus, ionospheric physics researcher at Byrd Station in the summers of 1966–67 and 1967–68.

The Batterbee Mountains are a group of prominent mountains rising to 2,200 metres (7,200 ft), which forms part of the dissected edge of Dyer Plateau overlooking George VI Sound, on the west coast of Palmer Land. First seen and photographed from the air by Lincoln Ellsworth on 23 November 1935, they were charted from the ground in October 1936 by the British Graham Land Expedition (BGLE) under John Rymill, and named after Sir Harry Batterbee (1880–1976), Assistant Under-Secretary of State, Dominions Office, 1930–38, and Chairman of the Polar Committee in 1934, who gave help to the expedition.

Bryan Glacier is a glacier that flows north along the eastern side of the Werner Mountains and merges with Douglas Glacier on entering New Bedford Inlet in Palmer Land. It was mapped by the United States Geological Survey from ground surveys and from U.S. Navy air photos, 1961–67, and named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for Terry E. Bryan, glaciologist at Byrd Station, summer 1966–67.

Olstad Glacier is a heavily crevassed glacier descending to the west coast of Peter I Island about 2 nautical miles (3.7 km) south of Tofte Glacier. Peter I Island was circumnavigated by the Norwegian whale catcher Odd I in January 1927 and was explored from the Norvegia in February 1929.

Douglas Glacier is a glacier that flows east-northeast through the central Werner Mountains in Palmer Land. The glacier merges with Bryan Glacier just north of Mount Broome where it enters New Bedford Inlet. It was mapped by the United States Geological Survey from ground surveys and U.S. Navy air photos, 1961–67, and was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for Everett L. Douglas, a biologist at Palmer Station, summer 1967–68.

Pluto Glacier is a glacier on the east coast of Alexander Island, Antarctica, 10 nautical miles (18 km) long and 4 nautical miles (7 km) wide, which flows east into George VI Sound to the north of Succession Cliffs. Although Pluto Glacier is not located within nearby Planet Heights, the glacier was named in association with the mountain range along with many other nearby glaciers that are named after planets of the Solar System. The glacier was first photographed from the air on November 23, 1935, by Lincoln Ellsworth and mapped from these photos by W.L.G. Joerg. Roughly surveyed in 1936 by the British Graham Land Expedition (BGLE). Named by the United Kingdom Antarctic Place-Names Committee (UK-APC) for Pluto, then considered the ninth planet of the Solar System, following Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS) surveys in 1948 and 1949.

Meinardus Glacier is an extensive glacier in Palmer Land, Antarctica. It flows in an east-northeast direction to a point immediately east of Mount Barkow, where it is joined from the northwest by Haines Glacier, and then flows east to enter New Bedford Inlet close west of Court Nunatak, on the east coast of Palmer Land. The glacier was discovered and photographed from the air in December 1940 by the United States Antarctic Service. During 1947 it was photographed from the air by the Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition under Finn Ronne, who in conjunction with the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS) charted it from the ground. It was named by the FIDS for Wilhelm Meinardus, a German meteorologist and climatologist and author of many publications including the meteorological results of the German Antarctic Expedition under Drygalski, 1901–03.

McArthur Glacier is a glacier between the Christie Peaks and Swine Hill, flowing west from Palmer Land, Antarctica, into George VI Sound. It was named by the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee for Alistair H. McArthur, a British Antarctic Survey geophysicist at Stonington Island, 1967–68.

Kauffman Glacier is a broad, smooth glacier, 7 nautical miles (13 km) long, flowing eastward into the head of Palmer Inlet on the east coast of Palmer Land, Antarctica. It was mapped by the United States Geological Survey in 1974, and named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for Thomas A. Kauffman, a United States Antarctic Research Program biologist and Station Scientific Leader at Palmer Station in 1973.

Riley Glacier is a heavily crevassed glacier, 14 nautical miles (26 km) long and 17 nautical miles (31 km) wide, flowing westward from the west side of Palmer Land into George VI Sound between the Traverse Mountains and Mount Dixey. First sighted and surveyed in 1936 by the British Graham Land Expedition (BGLE) under Rymill. Resurveyed in 1949 by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS) and named for Quintin T.P.M. Riley, assistant meteorologist of the BGLE, 1934–37. The glacier sits at 70° 06' 00.0" S latitude and 67° 55' 00.0" W longitude.

Blue Glacier is a large glacier which flows into Bowers Piedmont Glacier about 10 miles (16 km) south of New Harbour, in Victoria Land, Antarctica. It was discovered by the British National Antarctic Expedition under Robert Falcon Scott, 1901–04, who gave it this name because of its clear blue ice at the time of discovery.
