Thirty-one people, all male, were executed in the United States in 1994, twenty-three by lethal injection, six by electrocution, one by gas chamber and one by hanging. [1] Idaho, Maryland, and Nebraska both carried out their first executions since reinstating capital punishment. Washington and Illinois both carried out their first involuntary executions since the 1960s.
