The Lokerse Feesten (English: Lokeren Feasts) is a music festival organized annually in Lokeren, Belgium. [2]
The first edition took place on 2, 4 and 6 August 1975. [3] It is now a ten-day festival, with four to eight artists performing on the main stage daily. Theme days include metal days or days with Flemish/Dutch artists only. [4]
The festival hosts up to 125,000 visitors each year. [5]
In recent editions, international artists like Neil Young, P!nk, Blur, The Beach Boys, Van Morrison, Iggy Pop, Black Eyed Peas, Snoop Dogg, Morrissey and Tori Amos headlined the Lokerse Feesten. [6]
Locally, the name "Lokerse Feesten" has also become a collective term for all activities within those 10 days in the city centre of Lokeren.
In 1994, the music festival moved to another location (Grote Kaai) and it became a paying event. A part of the organizers disagreed these decisions, and since then, a free music festival Fonnefeesten takes place in Lokeren during the same period of the Lokerse Feesten. [7] In the past, it headlined famous artists like Billy Ocean, 10cc, Level 42, Axelle Red, The Supremes, The Three Degrees and Starsailor. [8]
Lokeren is a city and municipality located in the Belgian province of East Flanders, and belongs to the Waasland, also called Land van Waas, of which it is the second most important city after Sint-Niklaas. The city, located on the river Durme, the Lede, and the E17 motorway, has more than 42,100 inhabitants who are called Lokeraars or Rapenfretters. Because Lokeren is located on the Durme, Lokeren is often called "The Durme City". Horse sausages are officially recognized as a regional product.

The Horrors are an English rock band formed in Southend-on-Sea in 2005, consisting of lead vocalist Faris Badwan, guitarist Joshua Hayward, keyboardist and synthesizer player Tom Furse, bassist Rhys Webb, and drummer and percussionist Joe Spurgeon. The Osheaga Music and Arts Festival is a multi-day music festival in Montreal, Quebec, that is held every summer at Parc Jean-Drapeau on Île Sainte-Hélène. The festival takes place on six stages with various audience capacities. Translated from their French equivalents, they are called "River Stage", "Mountain Stage", "Green Stage", "Trees Stage", "Valley Stage", and "Zone Piknic Electronik". Sea Dance Festival is a summer music festival, held in Malinska, a settlement on the island of Krk in Croatia. It has been held at Jaz Beach in Budva since 2014 until 2017, as an extension of EXIT Festival, and then at Buljarica Beach in Montenegro until 2022. In May 2023, the organizers announced the festival's displacement from Montenegro, because of the blockades and lack of financial support from the local government, with several potential future locations announced. Croatia was revealed as the location in June 2023.
The Compact Disk Dummies is a Belgian electropunk band from Desselgem (Waregem). The group consists of the brothers Lennert and Janus Coorevits. Both do the vocals and play keyboards, Lennert also plays the guitar.
