Podrah is a neighbourhood of South Howrah, in Howrah district, West Bengal, India. It is a part of the area covered by Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA). [1] It houses one of the largest Multispeciality hospital in the district of Howrah, NH Multispeciality Hospital.

Geography

Podra is flanked by Santragachhi and Green Park in the North, Shibpur in the East, Garden Reach and the Ganges River in the South and Mullick Para Lane, Chunabhati Road and Mourigram in the West.

Demographics

Podra was a part of the Kolkata Urban Agglomeration in 2011 census. [2]

As per the 2011 Census of India, Podra had a total population of 21,589, of which 11,220 (52%) were males and 10,369 (48%) were females. The age of 91.54% of the population is above 6 years and while 2,143 people were younger than 6. The literacy rate is 82.45%. [3]

Kona Expressway is a 14.17-kilometre-long (8.80 mi) grade-separated highway in greater Kolkata, West Bengal, India. The highway have 4 general transit lanes with 2-4 service lanes while the 6 laned elevated expressway corridor is under construction. The road acts as important link to kolkata connecting National Highway 16 (India) near Nibra to Vidyasagar Setu, which leads to Kolkata. It is one of the most important entries to Kolkata. As of November 2022, the road carries more 70,000 vehicles per day.
