Punjabi Tribune is a Punjabi language daily newspaper owned by The Tribune Trust, publishes in the Punjab, India. It was launched on 15 August 1978 [1] [2] and became online on the internet in August 2010. Mr Rajesh Ramachandran is the Editor-in-Chief of The Tribune Group of Newspapers. Mr Swaraj Bir Singh is the Editor of Punjabi Tribune.

Dainik Bhaskar is a Hindi-language daily newspaper in India which is owned by the Dainik Bhaskar Group. According to the World Association of Newspapers, it ranked fourth in the world by circulation in 2016 and per the Indian Audit Bureau of Circulations was the eleventh largest newspaper in India by circulation as of 2022. Started in Bhopal in 1958, it expanded in 1983 with the launch of Dainik Bhaskar's Indore edition. The Dainik Bhaskar Group is present in 12 states with 65 editions in Hindi, Marathi, and Gujarati.

Surinder Kaur was an Indian singer and songwriter. While she mainly sang Punjabi folk songs, where she is credited for pioneering and popularising the genre, Kaur also recorded songs as a playback singer for Hindi films between 1948 and 1952. For her contributions to Punjabi music, she earned the sobriquet Nightingale of Punjab, the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1984, and the Padma Shri in 2006.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Giani Gurdit Singh</span> Musical artist

Giani Gurdit Singh was born in Mithewal village in the state of Punjab, India. He was considered one of the greatest contemporary writers in Punjabi, and his book Mera Pind is regarded as a classic. It is now in its 14th edition and has been in print continuously since 1961. He was also a pioneering journalist, the Owner-Editor of Parkash 1947–1978. He was also the editor of Singh Sabha Patrika, a monthly magazine of Sikh history and divinity. Giani Gurdit Singh graduated as "Giani" from Punjab University, Lahore in 1945, and he specialised in literature, divinity, history and folklore. He was a member of the Punjab Legislative Council from 1956 to 1962. He contributed to the debates at that time and in the creation of Punjabi University, Patiala and the recognition of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, Talwandi Sabo, as the 5th Takht of the Sikhs. He was General Secretary of the Singh Sabha Shatabadi Committee, Amritsar, renamed Kendriya Sri Guru Singh Sabha. As the editor of the magazine Singh Sabha Patrika, he focused on issues of importance to the Sikhs. He also established two Guru Granth Vidya Kendras, one in Chandigarh and another in Mehrauli, Delhi.

Julio Francis Ribeiro is a retired Indian police officer and civil servant. He held increasingly responsible positions during his career, and led the Punjab Police during part of the Punjab insurgency periods. In 1987, he was awarded the Padma Bhushan, India's third highest civilian award for his services.

Punjab Kesari is a Hindi-language newspaper published from many centres in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and Delhi in India. It is owned by the Punjab Kesari group. It is one of the four newspapers started by the group; the other three are Hind Samachar in Urdu, Jagbani in Punjabi languages and Navodaya Times in Hindi languages from Delhi NCR.

Gulzar Singh Sandhu is a prominent Punjabi language writer. He won the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award, given by the Sahitya Akademi, India's National Academy of Letters, for his short story collection, Amar Katha in 1982. Among other awards he was also the recipient of International Association of Authors, Playwrights and Artists of Canada in 1992 and Shiromani Punjabi Sahityakar Puraskar from the Education Department of Punjab in 2001.

Rozana Spokesman is a Punjabi-language daily newspaper in India, mainly circulated in the Punjab region. During its earlier years it was a weekly newspaper. Joginder Singh is the editor. Currently it has the fourth-largest circulation of all Punjabi-language newspapers.

Muhammad Afzal Ahsan Randhawa was a Pakistani Punjabi language writer, poet, translator, playwright and a politician. He authored several short stories and novels in the Punjabi language including Sooraj Grehan and Doaba.

Diljit Dosanjh is an Indian singer, songwriter, actor, film producer and television personality. He works in Punjabi Music and subsequently in Punjabi and Hindi cinema. Dosanjh entered Social 50 chart by Billboard in 2020. He is featured in various music charts including Canadian Albums Chart, UK Asian chart by Official Charts Company and New Zealand Hot Singles. His movies, including Jatt & Juliet 2, Punjab 1984, Sajjan Singh Rangroot and Honsla Rakh are among the highest grossing Punjabi films in history.

<i>Ajit</i> (newspaper)

Ajit(Daily Ajit) is a Punjabi language daily newspaper published in Jalandhar, India. The newspaper is run by Sadhu Singh Hamdard Trust. The newspaper was founded in 1941 in Urdu language. Veteran journalist and ex-Rajya Sabha member, Barjinder Singh Hamdard, is the current editor-in-chief. In 2007–08, it claimed a circulation of more than 333 thousand.

<i>Hind Samachar</i>

Hind Samachar is a daily Urdu newspaper that is circulated in Mumbai. It was one of the three newspaper started by the Punjab Kesari Group back in 1948. Combined these three newspapers have combined circulation of 975,000 copies on weekdays and 1.05 million copies on weekends. The head office is located in Civil Lines in Mumbai, and the newspaper is printed from Jalandhar, Ambala, and Jammu.

Dainik Tribune is an Indian Hindi-language daily newspaper that is being currently published from Chandigarh, New Delhi, Jalandhar and Bathinda. It was first established in 1978 by The Tribune Trust, which published The Tribune and the Punjabi Tribune. Rajesh Ramachandran is the Editor-in-Chief of The Tribune Group of Newspapers. Naresh Kaushal is the Editor of Dainik Tribune. The Internet editions of the Dainik Tribune were launched on 16 August 2010.

Nawan Zamana is an Indian Punjabi language daily newspaper owned by the Arjan Singh Gargaj Foundation, published in Jalandhar, Punjab, India. After partition, Communist Party of India brought out its Urdu weekly Naya Zamana from Jalandhar in 1952. The CPI converted Naya Zamana into the Punjabi daily, Nawan Zamana, as Urdu was losing its readership after partition. Jagjit Singh Anand, a former member of Rajya Sabha, was its Chief Editor for 50 years until his death in June 2015. Its online edition was launched in 2007.

Daily Punjab Times is an Indian Punjabi language daily newspaper owned by PT Live Private Limited from Jalandhar, and published in Punjab, India. Baljit Singh Brar is the editor.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Shiromani Akali Dal</span> Political party in India

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) is a centre-right Sikh-centric state political party in Punjab, India. The party is the second-oldest in India, after Congress, being founded in 1920. Although there are many parties with the description Akali Dal, the party that is recognized as "Shiromani Akali Dal" by the Election Commission of India is the one led by Sukhbir Singh Badal. The party has a moderate Punjabi agenda. On 26 September 2020, they left the NDA over the farm bills.
