Uttarbanga Sambad is a Bengali language broadsheet published from Siliguri. [1]
Uttarbanga Sambad was started on 19 May 1980 in a small letterpress in Siliguri. Due to its huge popularity, in 1981 web offset press was installed. Computerized typesetting was introduced in the year 1985. Afterwards, hi-speed 4-colour web offset press was introduced.
Uttarbanga Sambad is now printed simultaneously from Siliguri, Cooch Behar, Malda City, Alipurduar. The founder editor of Uttarbanga Sambad was Suhash Chandra Talukdar. Presently it is run by his son Sabyasachi Talukder.

The Dooars or Duars are the alluvial floodplains in eastern-northeastern India that lie south of the outer foothills of the Himalayas and north of the Brahmaputra River basin. Goutam Deb is an Indian Politician currently serving as the Mayor of Siliguri Municipal Corporation. He was a Cabinet Minister of Department of Tourism in the Government of West Bengal from 2016 to 2021. He also served as the Minister of North Bengal Development, a newly formed department in 2011 by Mamata Banerjee, the first woman Chief Minister of West Bengal. The New Mal–Changrabandha–New Cooch Behar line are a set of 2 lines which connect Changrabandha, a border transit point near Indo-Bangladesh border in Cooch Behar district with the stations of New Mal in Jalpaiguri district and New Cooch Behar in Cooch Behar district of West Bengal. It is under the jurisdiction of Northeast Frontier Railway. The Malbazar–Changrabandha section of the line was a metre-gauge line, before its gauge conversion began on 2002. The Malbazar–Changrabandha section was re-opened to public on 20 January 2016 after gauge conversion. The New Changrabandha–New Cooch Behar broad-gauge line was built as an extension as a part of the New Maynaguri–Jogighopa rail line to provide an alternate link from North Bengal to Assam and was opened to public on 21 February 2016.
