Sky Aviation was a regional airline based in Jakarta, Indonesia. It started service in 2010 and suspended operation in 2014.
Sky Aviation was established as an air charter service in 2010 with a fleet of two Cirrus aircraft. After a management change in 2010, it expanded its services to a regular scheduled airline.
In 2010 Sky Aviation acquired a Cessna Grand Caravan to service scheduled flights between Surabaya, Banyuwangi and Denpasar. These routes were officially launched in Banyuwangi on December 29, 2010.
In the first quarter of 2011 Sky Aviation acquired Fokker 50 turbo props as new type of fleet. Three Fokker 50 aircraft joined its fleet and entered into service.
On March 29, 2012 Sky Aviation launched its first international route with a turboprop-powered Fokker F-50 airplane to serve Raja Haji Fisabilillah Airport, Tanjung Pinang, Riau Islands to Melaka (Malacca), Malaysia. [1]
On August 7, 2012, Sky Aviation commenced Boeing 737-300 services flying scheduled flights between Jakarta and Pekanbaru. . [2] The airline also began providing full meal-service aboard its aircraft in collaboration with BreadTalk. [3]
The airline took delivery of the first of 12 Sukhoi Superjet 100 it had ordered, [4] making it the first airline in Indonesia to operate the type.
On March 19, 2014 the Indonesian Transportation and Communication Ministry Tifatul Sembiring confirmed that Sky Aviation would be temporarily suspending its operations effective immediately. The company was reportedly seeking a cash injection from new investors, with a plan to resume operations by March 31, 2014. [5] Sky Aviation requested a third extension of their temporary suspension, but as regulations permitted only two, the Transportation Ministry allocated its routes to other airlines beginning 5 May 2014. [6] On July 22, 2014, it was announced that Sky Aviation was due to resume services after all negotiations had been settled, [7] but as of May 2017, the company remained suspended, and the airline fleet was still in storage.

The Sky Aviation fleet is currently in storage pending resumption of operations. [10]
On August 27, 2012, a Fokker 50 registration PK-ECD performing flight SYA350 from Tanjungpinang to Natuna (Indonesia) with 44 people on board overran the end of runway 18 while landing in Natuna during heavy rain and reduced visibility conditions at about 11:15L (04:15Z). The aircraft came to a stop with all gear on soft ground with the main gear a few meters past the paved surface. There were no injuries on board, and the aircraft sustained only minor damage. [11]
PT Merpati Nusantara Airlines, operated as Merpati Nusantara Airlines, was an airline in Indonesia based in Central Jakarta, Jakarta. It operated scheduled domestic services to more than 25 destinations in Indonesia, as well as scheduled international services to East Timor and Malaysia. The word merpati is Indonesian for "dove", and Nusantara is a Javanese word found in the Pararaton meaning "the outer islands", referring to the Indonesian archipelago. The airline was based at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Jakarta. It also maintained both a maintenance and simulator facility at Juanda International Airport, Surabaya. The Merpati Training Centre at Surabaya housed Fokker F-27, AVIC MA60 and CN-235 full motion simulators.

VLM Airlines, short for Vlaamse Luchttransport Maatschappij – "Flemish Air Transport Company", was a Belgian airline offering scheduled, charter and ACMI services. It was headquartered at Antwerp International Airport in Deurne. It ceased operations on 31 August 2018. It is not to be confused with its Belgian sister airline VLM Airlines Brussels, which operated leisure charters and ceased operations in December 2018. A new airline known as Air Antwerp which was owned by CityJet (75%) and KLM (25%) launched operations on 9 September 2019 and consisted of ex-employees and fleet of VLM Airlines until its closure in 2021.

Tigerair Mandala was a low-cost carrier headquartered in Jakarta, Indonesia. It was founded in 1969 as a full service airline by members of the Indonesian military. In 2006, as part of the ongoing reforms, the military was forced to sell Mandala Airlines, with the new owners converting it to a low-cost carrier. In January 2011, facing bankruptcy, Mandala Airlines filed for protection from its creditors, and ceased operations. In May 2011, Singapore based Tiger Airways Holdings made an offer to purchase Mandala, but the transaction did not close until September 2011. The airline did not return to service until April 2012, renamed Tigerair Mandala, following an injection of fresh capital by Indonesian conglomerate Saratoga Investment Corp.

Beginning with two Boeing 737s, Xpress Air was the first privately owned, scheduled airline to connect Jakarta to 24 domestic destinations like Makassar, Ternate, Sorong, Manokwari and Jayapura. Makassar was a main hub for all flights coming from Java to the eastern cities of Indonesia, while Sorong was a second hub in Papua, connecting remote places surrounding the West Papua area. The airline ceased all operations in 2021.

On 6 September 2012, the airline ceased operations on a temporary basis, before having its license revoked on 19 November 2012.
The former Indonesian airline Merpati Nusantara Airlines offered flights to many domestic destinations and to Timor Leste, Australia, Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore.
