Roger Jason Stone is an American political consultant, lobbyist, and author. In November 2019, subsequent to the Mueller Report and Special Counsel investigation, he was convicted on seven counts, including witness tampering and lying to investigators. On February 20, 2020, he was sentenced to 40 months in federal prison. However, incarceration was postponed due to deferment on a decision for a retrial.
William Pelham Barr is an American attorney and government official and the 77th and 85th United States Attorney General. Barr's second stint in the post began in February 2019 during the Donald Trump administration, as he previously served as the 77th Attorney General from 1991 to 1993 during the George H. W. Bush administration.
Paul John Manafort Jr. is an American former lobbyist, political consultant, lawyer, and convicted felon of tax and bank fraud. A long-time Republican Party campaign consultant, he chaired the Trump Presidential campaign team from June to August 2016. Manafort served as an adviser to the U.S. presidential campaigns of Republicans Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush, and Bob Dole. In 1980, he co-founded the Washington, D.C.-based lobbying firm Black, Manafort & Stone, along with principals Charles R. Black Jr., and Roger J. Stone, joined by Peter G. Kelly in 1984. Manafort often lobbied on behalf of foreign leaders such as former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, former dictator of the Philippines Ferdinand Marcos, former dictator of Zaire Mobutu Sese Seko, and Angolan guerrilla leader Jonas Savimbi. Lobbying to serve the interests of foreign governments requires registration with the Justice Department under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA); on June 27, 2017, he retroactively registered as a foreign agent.

The FBI and several United States congressional committees have been investigating links between Russian government officials or their affiliates and individuals associated with Donald Trump, the current President of the United States, since he was a candidate for the office as part of their investigations of Russian interference in the 2016 United States elections. Some of Trump's campaign members, business partners, administration nominees, and family members have been subjected to intense scrutiny following intelligence reports on such Russian interference. The investigations have revealed that a number of them had various types of links to or contacts with Russian officials, business people, banks, and Russian intelligence agencies.
