Ulysses Simpson Grant Elementary School is a historic building located in Oskaloosa, Iowa, United States. Built in 1914, it replaced a school of the same name that had been built in 1876. The Neoclassical building was designed by Des Moines architect John W. Trafzer, and built by Buckler and Robertson. It was the first new school built in Oskaloosa in the 20th century, and part of an effort to rebuild or recondition the schools in the city. [2] The addition of a multipurpose facility in 1957 followed the Mother's Crusade of 1956 to rebuild and modernize Oskaloosa schools system after World War II. It was designed by George Russell. Two other additions were built in 1978 and 1980. The building served the school system until 2004, after which the original portion of the building was converted into senior apartments and the newer additions into a senior center. The grounds have become a community park. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008. [1]

The school was designed by architect Richard C. Watkins, who also designed the Provo Third Ward Chapel and Amusement Hall, The Knight Block Building, and the Thomas N. Taylor Mansion.

The Grant Boyhood Home is a historic house museum at 219 East Grant Avenue in Georgetown, Ohio. Built in 1823, it was where United States President and American Civil War General Ulysses S. Grant (1822-85) lived from 1823 until 1839, when he left for the United States Military Academy at West Point. In 1976, the house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Nine years later, it was designated a National Historic Landmark. It is now owned by a local nonprofit organization as part of a suite of Grant-related museum properties in Georgetown.

It was individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981 as a part of the County Courthouses in Iowa Thematic Resource. In 1986 it was included as a contributing property in the Oskaloosa City Square Commercial Historic District. The courthouse is the second building the county has used for court functions and county administration.

It has a three-story, rear brick addition built in 1922. It features a pedimented cornice, brick parapet, projecting central section, and a two-story arched opening above the main entrance. The school was named for Chief Justice John Marshall.

It is believed to be the first modern, single-story school building in the state. Decorative elements in terracotta are liberally used on the exterior. The interior follows an open plan that maximized the use of light and air into each classroom. The gymnasium, manual training, and domestic science areas were rather new concepts for elementary schools when the building was built. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

The Oskaloosa City Park and Band Stand is a nationally recognized historic district located in Oskaloosa, Iowa, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. The listing includes one contributing site and five contributing objects. The town square, which is the site, was part of the original town plat in 1844. Landscaping projects were undertaken in the 1860s, 1911 and 1970–1971. In addition to the landscaping the sidewalks and curbing were installed in 1911. The bandstand in the center was designed by Des Moines architect Frank E. Wetherell, an Oskaloosa native, and built in 1912. The 29-foot (8.8 m) high octagonal structure is composed of concrete, iron and steel.

The Pond Street School, also known as the Alice E. Fulton School, is an historic former school building at 235 Pond Street in Weymouth, Massachusetts. The Colonial Revival brick building was constructed in 1928 to a design by architect Howard B. S. Prescott. Originally built in an H shape, the building was extended in 1953 and 1958 to the northeast, and in 1967 with the addition of a gymnasium section to the west. The latter portion was demolished and replaced by a new wing in 2008 during the conversion of the building to a senior living facility. The building served as an elementary school until 1991; it was renamed Alice E. Fulton School, after its first principal, in 1964.

The Stock Judging Pavilion is a historic building located in Oskaloosa, Iowa, United States. The facility on the Southern Iowa Fairgrounds was built in 1919 by P.W. Sparks, a prominent local contractor. It is believed he designed the building as well. It is one of several structures built at the grounds around the same time. In 1919 the Southern Iowa Fair was the second largest fair in the state after the Iowa State Fair. The pavilion originally had a double monitor roof. The upper monitor was removed sometime before 1945. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
