The United States men's artistic gymnastics team represents the United States in FIG international competitions.

Contents

History

The first national team roster was established in 1998. [1] The team has competed at the Olympic Games 21 times, winning seven medals.

Selection

Gymnasts can be selected for the national team at the National Championships or the Winter Cup challenge. The Men's Program Committee (MPC) is allowed to change the criteria for selection every year. [2]

Alexander Vladimirovich Artemev is a retired American artistic gymnast. Artemev was a member of the United States men's national artistic gymnastics team and won an Olympic bronze medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics. He is the 2006 all-around U.S. national champion. Known for his ability on the pommel horse, he was the 2007 and 2008 U.S. national champion on the pommel horse and won the bronze medal in the event at the 2006 World Championships.

Trent Dimas is a Hispanic American gymnast and Olympic champion. Now retired, Dimas was an elite senior level international artistic gymnast.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Jonathan Horton</span> American artistic gymnast

Jonathan Alan Horton is a former American artistic gymnast. He was a member of the United States men's national artistic gymnastics team and is the 2008 Olympic silver medalist on horizontal bar, the 2010 World all-around bronze medalist, a two-time Olympian, a two-time U.S. National All-Around Champion, and a 17-time medalist at the U.S. National Championships. At the 2008 Olympics, he also won a bronze medal with his U.S. teammates in the team competition. He also competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, where he qualified for the horizontal bar event final and finished in sixth place. In 2016, he had surgery on his left rotator cuff and as a result was unable to qualify for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Danell Johan Leyva Gonzalez is a Cuban American former gymnast who competed for the United States. He was a member of the United States men's national artistic gymnastics team and is the 2012 Olympic individual all-around bronze medalist and 2016 Olympic parallel bars and horizontal bar silver medalist. He is also the 2011 US national all-around gold medalist and the 2011 world champion on the parallel bars. With a combined total of 8 Olympic and World Championships medals, Leyva is the second most decorated American male gymnast after Paul Hamm.

John Orozco is an artistic gymnast who competed in the 2012 Olympics and is the 2012 U.S national champion. He was a member of the United States men's national artistic gymnastics team selected for the U.S. Olympic gymnastics team for the 2016 Olympic Games but withdrew on July 15, 2016, due to an ACL injury. After graduating High School at 17, John trained for 7 years at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Christopher Dean Brooks is a retired American gymnast who represented the United States at the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. He is now assistant coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks NCAA gymnastics team. He was a member of the United States men's national artistic gymnastics team and won four gold medals at the 2012 Pacific Rim Championships. He has trained alongside Olympic and World Championships medalist Jonathan Horton as a junior, college, and senior elite gymnast. On August 17, 2017, he announced his retirement from artistic gymnastics.

Samuel Anthony Mikulak is an American gymnastics coach. A retired artistic gymnast, he was a member of the United States men's national artistic gymnastics team. He is a six-time U.S. national all-around champion, the 2018 World bronze medalist on the horizontal bar, and a three-time Olympian. He is also an eight-time NCAA champion, winning the team, individual all-around, and several individual event titles at the 2011, 2013, and 2014 NCAA Men's Gymnastics championships. In 2023, he started serving as a gymnastics coach at EVO Gymnastics.

Paul Ruggeri III is a retired American gymnast. He was a member of the United States men's national artistic gymnastics team and won a combined five medals at the 2011 and 2015 Pan American Games. He was an alternate for many World Artistic Gymnastics Championships teams for the United States and successfully made his first in 2015.

Artistic gymnastics is a type of gymnastics in which athletes compete with short routines on various equipment, including bars, beams, rings, pommel horses, vaulting tables, and on a sprung floor. Gymnastics is well-established in the United States, where available programs range from recreational classes, casual summer camps, and children's leagues; to highly competitive collegiate leagues and four national teams. Although this is not unique to the United States, due to the physically demanding nature of the sport there are fewer options for adult gymnastics outside the elite level, although local parks and recreation departments often have limited offerings.

Cameron Matthew Bock is an American former artistic gymnast. He was named a member of the United States men's national artistic gymnastics team in 2018 and competed on the University of Michigan men's gymnastics team from 2018–2022. He was a member of the gold medal winning teams at the 2023 Pan American Games and the 2018 Pan American Championships.

John Brody Malone is an American artistic gymnast. He was a member of the bronze medal-winning team at the 2024 Summer Olympics. He is a three-time United States national all-around champion. On horizontal bar, he is the 2021 World Championship bronze medalist and the 2022 World Champion. With three Olympic and World Championship medals, Malone is tied as the ninth most decorated U.S. male gymnast of all time. He is also a ten-time NCAA National Champion.

Shane Michael Wiskus is an American artistic gymnast who is a member of the United States men's national artistic gymnastics team. He represented the United States at the 2020 Summer Olympics and was named as an alternative for the 2024 Summer Olympics. Additionally, he represented the United States at the 2019 World Championships and is a three-time NCAA Champion.

Morgan White is an American former gymnast. She was 1998 US Junior National Champion, 1999 Pan American Games All-Around Champion, 1999 World Championships Team, and a 2000 Olympic Games Team USA Member.
