History

Victory Heights developed in the early 20th century when a real estate developer named Goodwin subdivided land, marketing it as "Victory Heights." He sold lots with the promise of them being convenient to the highway or suitable for farming, particularly for the "chicken business," which was popular during a boom period.[ citation needed ]

The name was officially given to the locality on 30 January 1988. Its name is not extensively documented in easily accessible sources, so whether it commemorates a military victory, or has other origins remains less clear.[ citation needed ]

The Gympie North railway station opened on 4 February 1989, when the older Gympie station was bypassed for a new alignment. It serves as the main northern terminus for Citytrain services at Victory Heights.[ citation needed ]
