The 1989 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election were held to elect the 9th legislative assembly of Andhra Pradesh. In the 1989 Andhra Pradesh Assembly election, Indian National Congress swept the polls, winning 181 of the 294 seats in the Assembly. As the leader of the Congress Legislature Party, Marri Chenna Reddy was elected the Chief Minister. The TDP won only 74 seats compared to 202 seats where it emerged victorious in 1985 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election, due to anti incumbency wave which prevailed around the state. General Elections were held simultaneously and resulted in the INC(I) winning in 39 out of 42 Lok Sabha constituencies. The Telugu Desam Party on the other hand, won a mearge 2 Lok Sabha constituencies.

The Telugu Desam Party is an Indian regional political party primarily active in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. It was founded by Telugu matinée idol N. T. Rama Rao (NTR) on 29 March 1982 and has focused on supporting Telugu people. The party has won a five-time majority in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly and has emerged as the most successful political outfit in the state's history. It is currently the ruling party in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly.

The results of India's general elections to constitute 18th Lok Sabha, held in April–June 2024 were announced on 4th and 5th June 2024. The main contenders were two alliance groups of the Incumbent National Democratic Alliance (N.D.A) led by Bharatiya Janata Party; and the Opposition Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A.) led by Indian National Congress. In the legislative house of 543 seats, the incumbent NDA alliance secured majority with 293 seats, which included BJP party's 240 seats, while the opposition INDIA coalition got 234 seats, including Congress party's 99 seats. On June 9, 2024, Narendra Modi took oath as Prime Minister, having been elected the leader of the NDA alliance, though BJP lost its majority.

Nakka Ananda Babu is an Indian politician from the State of Andhra Pradesh. He was elected to Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly for two terms in 2009 and 2014 but lost in 2019 from Vemuru. He regained the Vemuru seat winning the 2024 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election.
