The 1995 Gua Musang by-election was a by-election that was held on 29 August 1995 for the Dewan Rakyat seat of Gua Musang. It was called following the void result of 1995 Malaysian general election for the seat by the High Court on 1 August 1995. [1] [2] [3] The petition was filed by Barisan Nasional candidate, Hussein Ahmad whose candidacy for the election was rejected by the returning officer on the nomination day. [4]

Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, the president of Parti Melayu Semangat 46, won the seat in 1995 Malaysian general election in a straight fight against Nik Ismail Wan Idris of Angkatan Keadilan Insan Malaysia with majority of 8,980.

Tengku Razaleigh defended the seat, defeating Hussein Ahmad of Barisan Nasional with a reduced majority of 4,746 votes. [5] The seat is the largest seat in Kelantan with 28,105 voters with 90 percent Malay voters. [6]

The Pengkalan Pasir by-election was held on 6 December 2005 in the Pengkalan Pasir state assembly constituency of the PAS-governed state of Kelantan, Malaysia. Nominations were held on 27 November 2005, and the election was contested by Hanifa Ahmad of Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS), Hanafi Mamat of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) in the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition, and Ibrahim Ali, an independent candidate. The by-election was necessitated after the death of the incumbent, Wan Abdul Aziz Wan Jaafar from PAS, on 31 October because of cancer. Wan Abdul Aziz defeated Hanafi by 55 votes in the 2004 general election. In 2005, there are 18,411 eligible voters and 195 registered postal voters; 94.8% Malay and 5.2% Chinese in Pengkalan Pasir.

General elections were held in Malaysia between Saturday, 8 July and Saturday, 22 July 1978. Voting took place in all 154 parliamentary constituencies of Malaysia, each electing one Member of Parliament to the Dewan Rakyat, the dominant house of Parliament. State elections also took place in 276 state constituencies on the same day.

Wan Abdul Rahim bin Wan Abdullah is a Malaysian politician. He was a former member of the Parliament of Malaysia for the Kota Bharu constituency in Kelantan from 2008 to 2013 representing the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) in the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) opposition coalition. However, since 2015, he has joined Parti Amanah Negara (AMANAH), a component party of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) new opposition coalition. Wan Abdul Rahim is also known popularly as Cikgu Rahim.

A by-election was held on 4 July 2020 for the seat of Chini in the Pahang State Legislative Assembly. The seat became vacant following the death of the incumbent Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) of Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition, Abu Bakar Harun on 7 May 2020 who had held the seat since 2004. The 2024 Nenggiri by-election was held on 17 August 2024 for the Kelantan State Legislative Assembly seat of Nenggiri. The by-election was called following the disqualification of the incumbent, Mohd Azizi Abu Naim, on 19 June 2024 due to his support for the Anwar Ibrahim government. Mohd Azizi had served as a Member of the Kelantan State Legislative Assembly for Nenggiri since 2023, and also as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Gua Musang.

The 1997 Pulai Chondong by-election was a by-election that was held on 6 January 1997 for the Kelantan State Legislative Assembly seat of Pulai Chondong. It was called following the death of its Parti Melayu Semangat 46 assemblyman Noor Ahmad, who recently moved to UMNO about a month before. Ahmad won the seat on 1995 Malaysian general election under Angkatan Perpaduan Ummah banner against Nooruddin Hassan of Barisan Nasional with a majority of 1,461.

The 1997 Semerak by-election was a by-election that was held on 11 August 1997 for the Kelantan State Legislative Assembly seat of Semerak. It was called following the death of its PAS assemblyman Sulaiman Ahmad, aused by stroke. Sulaiman won the seat on 1995 Malaysian general election under Angkatan Perpaduan Ummah banner against Ismail Awang of Barisan Nasional and Musa Salleh of AKIM with a majority of 248.
