The Tenang state by-election was a state by-election that was held on 30 January 2011 in the state of Johor, Malaysia. The nomination of candidates was done on 22 January 2011. The Tenang parliamentary seat fell vacant when its state assemblyman Datuk Sulaiman Taha of United Malays National Organisation died due to a blood infection and other complications due to diabetes. [1] [2] Previously Sulaiman won the Tenang seat with a 2,492-vote majority, beating PAS' Mohd Saim Siran at the 2008 Malaysian general elections. The state assembly seat has some 14,511 voters consisting of 48.9% Malays, 38.3% Chinese, 12% Indians and 0.9% other races. [3] [4] [5] PAS has picked as its candidate Normala Sudirman, a school teacher, [6] [7] while Barisan Nasional has picked Mohd Azahar. [8]

A total 11,553 registered voters were eligible to vote in this by-election, including 127 postal voters. The electorate is made of 61.63% Malays, 20.08% Chinese, 16.37% Orang Asli, 1.6% Indians, 0.09% others. Barisan Nasional's candidate won the by-election.

The Merlimau state by-election is a state by-election that was scheduled to be held on 6 March 2011 in the state of Malacca, Malaysia. The nomination of candidates was scheduled on 26 February 2011. The Merlimau seat fell vacant following the death of its state assemblyman Datuk Mohamad Hidhir Abu Hasaan of United Malays National Organisation from a heart attack at the Putra Specialist Hospital in Malacca. Previously Mohamad Hidhir won the Merlimau seat with a 2,154 vote majority, beating PAS' Jasme Tompang at the 2008 Malaysian general elections. The state assembly seat has around 10,400 voters, comprising mainly 64% Malays, 21% Chinese and 14% Indians. For the by-election PAS picked as its candidate, Yuhaizad Abdullah while Barisan Nasional picked Roslan Ahmad.

The Kerdau state by-election is a state by-election that was scheduled held on 6 March 2011 in the state of Pahang, Malaysia. The nomination of candidates was done on 26 February 2011. The Kerdau seat fell vacant following the death of its state assemblyman Datuk Zaharuddin Abu Kassim of United Malays National Organisation, part of the Barisan Nasional coalition from a heart attack at his home. Previously Zaharuddin Abu Kassim won the Kerdau seat with a 1,615 vote majority, beating PAS' Hassanuddin Salim at the 2008 Malaysian general elections. The state assembly seat has 8,721 voters registered compromising of 88.36% Malays, 3.6% Chinese, 3.4% Indians and 2.98% other races. For the by-election PAS picked as its candidate, Hassanuddin Salim while Barisan Nasional picked Syed Ibrahim Syed Ahmad.

The 14th Selangor state election was held on 9 May 2018 to elect the State Assemblymen of the 14th Selangor State Legislative Assembly, the legislature of the Malaysian state of Selangor.

A by-election was held for the Dewan Rakyat seat of P67 Kuala Kangsar, a parliamentary seat located in the state of Perak, Malaysia on 18 June 2016 following the nomination day on 5 June 2016. The seat fell vacant after death of member of parliament Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad, who died in a helicopter crash on May 5, 2016 while campaigning in the Sarawak state election. In the 2013 general election, Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad won the seat with a majority of 1,082 votes beating Khalil Idham Lim Abdullah of Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) and independent candidate Kamilia Ibrahim. This by-election was held concurrently with the Sungai Besar by-election for the same reason.

A by-election was held for the Dewan Rakyat seat of P93 Sungai Besar, a parliamentary seat located in the state of Selangor, Malaysia on 18 June 2016 following the nomination day on 5 June 2016. The seat fell vacant after death of member of parliament Noriah Kasnon, who died in a helicopter crash on May 5, 2016 while campaigning in the Sarawak state election. Noriah Kasnon was also the Plantations Industries and Commodities Deputy Minister. In the 2013 general election, Noriah Kasnon won the seat with a majority of 399 votes beating Mohamed Salleh M Hussin of Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS). This by-election was held concurrently with the Kuala Kangsar by-election for the same reason.

Adly bin Zahari is a Malaysian politician who has served as the Deputy Minister of Defence in the Unity Government administration under Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Minister Mohamad Hasan since December 2022, Member of Parliament (MP) for Alor Gajah since November 2022 and Member of the Melaka State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Bukit Katil since May 2018. He served as the 11th Chief Minister of Melaka from May 2018 to March 2020 and State Leader of the Opposition of Melaka from April 2020 to December 2022. He is a member of the National Trust Party (AMANAH), a component party of the PH coalition and was a member of the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS), a component party of formerly the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) coalition. Mohd Isa bin Abdul Samad is a Malaysian politician. He was the longest serving Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan for 22 years from April 1982 to March 2004 and was a Minister of Federal Territories (2004–2005). Isa was a member and former vice-president of United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), a component of the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition until 2018 when he quit to become an Independent.

The 14th Malacca election was held on 9 May 2018 to elect the State Assemblymen of the 14th Malacca State Legislative Assembly, the legislature of the Malaysian state of Malacca. The Malacca State Legislative Assembly dissolved on 7 April 2018 by the Head of State on the advice of the Head of Government.

A by-election was held on 13 October 2018 for the Dewan Rakyat seat of Port Dickson. The seat became vacant after the resignation of the incumbent member Danyal Balagopal Abdullah, a member of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and the governing Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition. This was the first federal by-election since the 9 May 2018 general election (GE14), which saw the first-ever change of federal government in Malaysia's history.

A by-election was held on 26 January 2019 for the Dewan Rakyat seat of Cameron Highlands. The seat became vacant after the Election Court on 30 November 2018 declared the incumbent Barisan Nasional (BN) Member of Parliament of Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) Dato' Sivarraajh Chandran's victory in the seat null and void because it was found that corrupt practices were committed in the 14th general election. The court found Sivarraajh guilty of bribing of between RM30 and RM1,000 to the Orang Asli community voters prior to the election as established beyond reasonable doubt in the election petition filed by the Democratic Action Party (DAP) candidate M. Manogaran.

It was called following the death of the incumbent, Manis Muka Mohd Darah on 17 November 2020. Manis Muka was a 2-term state assemblywoman first elected at the 2018 Sabah state election. She was a member of the Sabah Heritage Party (WARISAN).
